opted out of HPS around 2016 after telling hdb that i have private term insurance to cover. im surprised im still given hps rebate this year for ~nov2015 to ~dec2019 HPS performance.


my mortgage loan is around 400k.

I got back $4xx for a $200+k mortgage loan. I think I paid a total of $800+ for HPS so the rebate is about 50%.

For those receiving these rebates who haven’t reached the Full Retirement Sum yet, wouldn’t it generally make a great deal of sense to transfer at least this sum from your Ordinary Account into your Special Account? It’s a windfall you didn’t necessarily expect and certainly couldn’t depend on, so why not make it work harder for yourself in your SA?

I received 6xx and wife 4xx.
I wonder why the difference as every payment has been 50-50.

Anyway, it's unexpected and we're quite happy about it.

altho ur installment 50-50, hps insurance (ie reducing term insurance) for female n male is different

Yours is probably prorated rebate. As the rebate is given for the period from 9 November 2015 to Jan 2020. So if you are covered under HPS during that period, you will receive part of the rebates.

My parents didn't get it cos their house is fully paid. Can someone explain why are we getting this rebate and how is it calculated?
