Here you go..I think I found one in your price bracket.. SG$750 with shipping..

https://www.amazon.com/Kardon-Chann...09-20&linkId=d336b3f8ee906829a6015f3584b5fd0e

But actually, I'd go with larger 5-6 inch driver speakers instead of the 3 inch found in satellites. 3 inch speakers cut off at around 100hz.. 5 inch can go to 75hz. This makes the low end more defined. So when there's gunshots and drums you can hear them coming from the speakers instead of the subwoofer only.

For me I got lucky on carousell.. Managed to get 5 focal sibs for $250, a Yamaha slim subwoofer (yst-fsw150) for $150 and for atmos 2 x Sony ss-sr35 for $30. So yes a 5.1.2 under $800 is possible but need good timing.. Usually Dec when ppl get bonus and upgrade :)

Focal sibs used for $250? Is this the one?

Let me clarify what I opened this thread for:
I am looking for recommendations for AV receiver in the 1000+ (upto 1300) range with 9.2Ch capabilities and Atmos/DTS:X support.
I am also looking for recommendations for 5.1/5.1.2 sets - preferably from people who actually use them, and that are in the 600-1000 price range. I know there are branded new sets such as these and which even get good reviews.
My budget is 2000 s$, but it is slightly flexible. maybe upto 2200-2400 s$. But no more. I know this is doable. I am just asking for recommendations from people who have experienced this kind of sets.

I think you can look at this - https://m.qoo10.sg/gmkt.inc/Mobile/Goods/Goods.aspx?goodscode=660328170&stcode=411&banner_no=1305330

True Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 setup that exceeds your expectations all within your budget! Thank me later.

Not interested in sound bars. I've already stated that.

Do give them a try. Other than the fact they are “soundbar”, they fit your requirement and is within your budget. I own a top end 5.1 soundbar with surround sound and it is better than what you are trying to build with “satellite speakers”!

No thanks. I am NOT interested in sound bars. and I am not going to "give them a try" as in spend any money on them. I want a true surround system, with separate speakers and not virtual sound. I'm happy for you that you're good with your soundbar. I am not interested. and what the quotes on "satellite speakers" are for, I don't know. They've been around for a very long time, and they do a good job.

I bought a second hand Marantz NR-1607 last time for 450. It’s good for 5.1.2. I’m also using psb alpha intro series which was probably about 600? Using elac atmos speakers that cost less than 300 second hand. All in less than 2K. It’s loud enough for a small living room.

Loud with small speakers sure, deep bass hard to achieve. My revel B8 wireless makes me yawn. Force me to get a revel B1 supplement. In the meantime I found a cheap repair place to fix my JBL l8400p which always provided me the bass I enjoy. Overkill right now for sure

I have considered it. maybe still am. But this is a 5.0 system which means I will need to spend at least 200-300 dollars more on a sub-woofer.

If the $699 price is real you add another $200 is still the price of the DX2 set

Is not unbelievable actually. Same seller selling Crystal 4.1 at $200 pair and 4.3 at $400 pair. Crystal 4.C at $169. Whole bundle $699 looks normal.

You buy the crystal 4 set now, u get floorstanders with bass down to 50Hz and -6dB point down to 45Hz (and I appreciate manufacturers who call their "frequency response" as +-3dB and honest with their -6dB point, because many manufacturers call their "frequency response" as -6dB or even -10dB)

And then you can buy a subwoofer to cover the final 20Hz to 50Hz.

You get the DX2, the subwoofer only covers +-3dB to 40Hz.
Lower price subwoofers tend not to go very low. Especially if it still has to reproduce higher frequencies to cover up for the satellites.

tl;dr: Get the Crystal 4

Now now, there is demand for speakers of different form factors, be it due to size requirements or $$$ requirement. DX2 is a valid choice if you need smaller speakers or don't have the $$$. If someone buys a Soundware XS or Wharfedale MS-100 HCP or even Bose, it can be a legit decision.

Even Crystal 4 won't be perfect because people will easily say "wHy DiDnT yOu BuY a DiAmOnD", but even if you bought diamond they will say "WhY dIdNt YoU bUy An EvO" and nothing gets done. Stick a budget, stick a size, stick a performance requirements, buy the speaker, done.

go with it, 4.3 is one of the best value speaker out thr. the same seller has sub for 200 i think. dont worry about sub, u can get it much later. u have enough bass atm. u should not settle with smaller satellite speaker. at 700 i dont think thr is another bundle that sound better.
update us once u set them up. give us review.

Hdb 3 room shouldn’t need that much power. And larger speakers could look ugly and take up too much space. Bookshelves could look too big in his living. Go and audition and decide what you need.

Correct!
Plus the fact the budget too low and TS don't want to save up.
Below is my 5.1.2 ATMOS setup in a HDB 5-room (5i) for your estimate.

Weeks later change to a 5-seater recliner, the sofa was shifted away from the back wall.

What is in this 5.1.2 ATMOS setup:

Monitor Audio Silver 200s (5.1)
Monitor Audio MASS 10 on-ceiling bookshelf speakers
Denon AVR-X3400H
Sony UBP-X700 4K Blu-ray player
Cables provided/installed by AV One are:
1) CANARE speaker cables 16AWG,
2) Chord Company subwoofer cable.

I am thinking of installing speakers on ceiling also. Do u feel it's worth it?
