Denon AVR-X2400H receiver Protect Mode issue

My Denon receiver (AVR-X2400H) goes into protect mode on startup. I've been using it since Oct-2018 It's hooked up (3.1) to a couple of Paradigm mini Monitor Series 7 bookshelves (8 ohm), Paradigm Series 7 center(8 ohm) and an Emotiva BassX S10 Sub.

It actually went into protect mode 3-4 times last month (always on startup), however, it turned back on after I unplugged and plugged back the speaker cables from the back of the receiver.

A couple days go it went into protect mode when I turned it on and it has stayed that way ever since. I tired to go into protection history mode but it goes into protect mode after 6 seconds of startup. Also tried resetting/initializing the microprocessor, nothing happens.
Also checked all speaker cables for loose wire threads/crossovers etc.

I don't think it's a thermal protect issue. Did a bit of googling and it seems like the amp circuit has tripped.

Do you guys know what could have caused it to go into protect mode?
If I need to get it looked at or repaired, any suggestions where I could go? (preferably near Tampines)

FYI Denon service center is IMS Marketing located at Woodlands.

Probably since it's out of warranty..

Thanks for the advice. Called them and they said troubleshooting fee is $60. Repair charges extra. *

Made a trip down to Sim Lim square and asked around a few shops. The consensus was that nobody they don't repair AVRs with HDMI function. something to do with the microprocessor/circuit boards. Weird!
They also suggested that it's not worth repairing coz it will cost around $300 +

PS. I managed to get it to go into protection history mode and it shows PRT: Thermal B.

Does anybody know what that could mean? And also advise on the above suggestions by Sim Lim square shops?

Googled and it's in some of the denon avr manual. Thermal Protection.
Dunno if yours has any permanent damage. Guess next question is... your avr is in open or inside closed cabinet? You can consider getting a small usb fan to blow at it or blow the hot air away from it. Read somewhere before avr needs around 6 inches of clearance on top and all around. Also maybe unplug power and open casing to see if too dusty or dirty.

Mine was in a closed cabinet with poor ventilation. Anyway I have moved it to an open spot now but it's still in protect mode.

Rest all (including DC/ASO and current) is showing 0

Suggest you use it in a well ventilated place and use a usb fan..

Two possibilities to fit your observations so far:

1) Bad contact that got fixed when you shook the unit
2) Actual thermal failure that disappeared after u let it rest for a while

For 2) just let it run for a while. If it actually doesn't come back, it is likely (1) or the thermal paste has dried up

So, the AVR has gone into protection mode again. I hadn't touched it since it turned on fine last night until this evening when I plugged in the speakers and the HDMI cables.

Protection count is thermal B: 69

Do consider a small USB fan as mentioned. Those laptop coolers make for a good-looking solution.

Overheating can causes heatsink contact to come loose and require reapplication of thermal paste. In order words, after it has overheated too many times, it becomes easier to overheat.

Did it go into protection only after you touched it?

I turned it on today without connecting any cables and it was fine. I then shut it off, connected all the speakers and HDMI cables, switched it on and it went into Protect mode.

Yes it does. Without anything connected except for the power cable it goes into protect mode

I think you need Denon, or buy a new amp bro..
