There will be depth if able to sign Jack Grealish for next season. Then will be able to rotate between Pogba (if he stays for next season), Bruno & Jack Grealish.

Can Grealish also play on RW? If so, we have a complete backup plan.

there was interest iirc but Sporting kept increasing the amount they wanted upfront due to their debt situation and not many are willing to pay so much in advance.
i believe most of the top clubs already have similar players in that position. United was lacking in that position sorely.
Speaking of Bruno, how come none of the big clubs were interested in him?

Jack Grealish to be deployed in unexpected role for Man Utd – report

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has earmarked a surprise positional change for Jack Grealish at Manchester United, should the Red Devils succcesfully manage to prise Aston Villa’s prized asset to Old Trafford this summer.

Grealish has scored nine goals and eight assists in the Premier League this term and has often been the source of his side’s goals throughout the campaign.

The 24-year-old has long been linked with United, with reports suggesting that Red Devils boss Solskjaer has placed him high on his list of summer targets as he looks to sign the player and form a dream attacking midfield partnership with Bruno Fernandes.

And with talk of a move to Old Trafford gathering pace, a report in The Athletic claims Solskjaer has already decided to deploy Grealish in a less-than-familiar role should the deal go through.

With January recruit Fernandes already shining for United in the No 10 role, and with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial seemingly inter-changeable in the central and left-sided attacking roles, it’s reported Solskjaer wants Grealish to play on the right-hand side of United’s attack should he sign.

The 24-year-old has predominantly featured off the left flank or from a central position under Dean Smith this season and while the role is not unfamiliar to Grealish, it’s not one he has occupied for a good few years.

As per Transfermarkt, Grealish has played that role played as a right winger 12 times and a right midfielder four times in his career, during which he contributed two goals and four assists.

However, it would come as something of a surprise to see him used there, particularly as United have also been strongly linked with Jadon Sancho to play in that role with the England winger said to already have an agreement in place over a summer move to Old Trafford.

Any deal for Grealish is likely to set United back at least £60million so it would seem unusual that Solskjaer sees Grealish operating in that position, with his last outing in that role way back in Villa’s 1-1 Championship draw with Bristol City in September 2018.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher outlining exactly why he’s being linked with a move to Old Trafford in this wholesome appraisal of his talents.

A clearly-impressed Carragher stated: “The best way to describe him is that it almost feels like every time Grealish gets the ball, the game stops.

“It’s like everyone is waiting to see what he’s going to do, like he’s got time on the ball.”

Discussing Grealish’s future, the pundit added: “Who knows how the season is going to end up and whether Villa go down or not, but there’s no doubt he’s got the quality to play for one of the top clubs in the Premier League or Europe.”

Rio Ferdinand also backs United to sign Grealish
Rio Ferdinand, meanwhile, has backed United to sign Grealish this summer.

The Red Devils will reportedly choose between Grealish or Leicester’s James Maddison in the summer window, but their former defender reckons Grealish just about edges it.

When asked which of the pair they should sign, Ferdinand said: “Grealish or Maddison? That’s a good question. They’re both flying, both done unbelievably well over the last year.
“Maddison is someone who can get the ball, he can pop it about.

“He gets goals, gets assists, sets up chances, he’s sharp, he gets in good positions to create things. Very good footballer. I like him.

“Grealish does all of that but he has one thing over all these players we talk about in this position for England like Dele Alli, Maddison, Mason Mount in that position, that attacking… that can play off the striker, that can play as an attacking midfielder.

“Grealish can take people on. Grealish gets the ball, he can manipulate the ball, draw players to him… draw one/two players to him leaving space for someone else.

“That’s what I like about Grealish. He’s got that bit of arrogance as well. Knows he’s a good player that’s producing.

“He just edges it for me.”

Mason Greenwood is doing for Manchester United what few teenagers in Europe can

"He has got a knack of that," Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said after the game. "He can go inside and he can go outside. He is just as good with his right foot as his left foot so he is developing into a fine player."

Such comfort with both feet is rare in any player, particularly one who is still just 18. It’s one of the reasons his stepovers are so successful, unbalancing defenders who are always aware he can unleash a shot from either side at any time.

However, it’s not just his ability to strike the ball with both feet that is impressive, but also the accuracy of those shots too.

In the Premier League this season, his shots on target percentage of 43.33 per cent ranks higher than the on-target percentages of a number of the division’s top stars, including Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and even Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.

Greenwood’s strike on Tuesday took his total for the season to 13 goals across all competitions. Whilst this is obviously an impressive return, it’s the manner in which the goals have been scored that adds a further dimension to his tally.

As we see in the below shot map, Greenwood has been rarely bestowed opportunities to shoot from locations within the six-yard box and close to the goal, like is usually the case for strikers playing in top teams.

This has largely been down to Solskjaer using the teenager on the right of his attack for most of the season, as opposed to playing him as a traditional centre-forward.

However, his aforementioned sharp accuracy in front of goal means he has still been able to find the back of the net regularly from more difficult angles and distances. This is captured by looking at the Expected Goal (xG) values of each of his goals so far this season.

Just three of his goals this season have had an xG value of over 0.2 - one of which was a penalty. Furthermore, his effort vs Brighton on Tuesday was awarded an xG value of just 0.03, which suggests that based on Wyscout’s model, the shot had around only a 3% chance of leading to a goal.

An ability to regularly score so many low-value chances is often an indicator of a player possessing elite finishing abilities. It’s why you will see the league's top-scorers each season almost always over-performing against their xG total for the campaign.

Beyond his goal on Tuesday, let’s not forget he also chipped in with an excellent assist for Bruno Fernandes’ second goal of the game, highlighting how his all-round influence is positively impacting the side.

However, it was the teenager's stunning strike from a difficult angle that left the lasting impression.

If Leicester lost the champions league spot to us, their sale of Harry Maguire to us would have been a very poor business.

‘It’s already done’: Tim Sherwood claims Manchester United have agreed Jack Grealish deal

‘I think Jack Grealish is a deal which is already done,’ Sherwood told Premier League Productions.

‘He’s a player that they [Manchester United] need. I honestly believe there’s only one club for Jack Grealish.

Pushed further on his claim, Sherwood said it was inevitable that Grealish would move to the Theatre of Dreams. ‘I don’t think he can stay at Aston Villa, he needs to progress his career. I think he signs for Manchester United.’

Barcelona’s unsettled Antoine Griezmann ‘likes’ idea of Man Utd transfer amid enquiry

He has scored eight La Liga goals in 32 appearances though a relationship with Lionel Messi, the star of Barcelona, does not appear as strong as some would like.

That wasn’t helped by Griezmann having never found himself in the same group as Messi when the Barca squad recently returned to training.

And while Barcelona are keen to keep the World Cup winner, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim the forward ‘likes’ the idea of the Premier League.

It’s reported that Manchester United and Manchester City have both asked about the availability of Griezmann, who signed for over £100m last summer.

Griezmann was only brought on for the final moments against his former club as Barca drew 2-2 with Atletico on Tuesday night.

“Is there anything wrong with Griezmann?” manager Quique Setien was asked.

“He seems in good shape to me,” said Setien, adding: “But they can't all play. Decisions have to be made.”

And when pushed on why he only brought the star on so late, the boss added: “I know it's not logical to put him on at the point of the match.

“I would have put him on before but I thought we were playing well and Messi and Suarez, you always have to have them on the pitch.”

Griezmann’s brother Theo had slammed Setien for the way he treated the former Atletico star in the La Liga clash.

In now deleted tweets, Theo wrote: “Honestly, I am going to cry,” before adding shortly after “2 minutes” – in reference to the amount of game-time the Frenchman had against his former club.

And Theo was eventually lost for words, simply tweeting: “…” as his third post before deleting all three shortly after.

Obviously he made a mistake joining Barcelona.
