China made a mistake by thinking they can copy and make the chips themselves easily just like how they did with other products that they manufacture

No, their motivation is not to copy and paste the industry to earn money. A few years back, China notices that their energy import (i.e. oil) is lower than semiconductor/electronics import. Hence, China aims to be self-sufficient.

Tsmc has no worries to fill sales order, a long queue of customer awaits them as they have mastered top quality wafer manufacturing ∼ which these customer depend on to bring future advanced products to market.

The mistake is Chinese r oversold with the integrated supply chain and they r too settled in the downstream role

But now things r changing and China is venturing into upstream which is normally dominated by yanks and japs

will huawei be forced to buy from qualcomm ? haha wonder if US will allow if buy from qualcomm

qualcomm is a sad collateral damage e.g when market forces, commercial common sense and supply chain gets dictated by politics of Washington. Have you read its CEO last year complain ? haha ?

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/01/qualcomm-earnings-huawei-us-china-trade-battle-weigh-on-firm.html
“The Huawei export ban, along with the pivot from 4G to 5G, which accelerated over the past couple of months, has contributed to industry conditions, particularly in China, that we expect will create headwinds in our next two fiscal quarters,” Steve Mollenkopf, CEO of Qualcomm, said on Wednesday.

“As a result of the export ban, Huawei shifted their emphasis to building market share in the domestic China market, where we do not see the corresponding benefits in product or licensing revenue.”

TSMC market cap is larger than Intel

Having China chipset manufacturing to match TSMC will first need to beat Intel and Samsung. Samsung did not build everything on its own.

Necessity is the mother of invention. The Chinese will take time to catch up to world standard but they will get there. However, SMIC is overpriced for now.

since TSMC is no longer useful to china
dont you all think
it is time for china to destroy taiwan?

once taiwan is gone
the entire world will look for who to buy chips?

Good question. Then will the countries that want chips stand forward to help TW?

I don't think the Chinese had made mistakes in that regard since the existing supply chain has worked very well after joining WTO.
Like any business partnership, you scratch my back and and return favour. Trouble is this partnership is being actively sabotaged by US own making...which started since the 2007/8 Wall St crash which many has never recovered from, all thanks to US lousy financial mismanagement, ballooning debt etc etc.

So what better way to blame by pointing finger at someone else ?
Trump happens to be the right guy and right time to redefine the supposed "Asian Century" in to the dark age. Throw in the climate change and COVID-19 showing up at the perfect time when he wanted a 2nd term.

So now, everyone is only interested in killing a Chinese coy. HA!

Not sure what "low yield" means when HMIC seems to be able to keep up with Huawei's order. Details already explained in Huawei's official statement why it was forced to "sideline" TSMC-made chips.

Also aside from the different chip maker and tech, does the user experience any difference with Honor series with HMIC's 14nm? We are entering Interesting time with more options and variety for consumers.

actually button cannot be too small

Only a handful of companies can afford to manufacture their chip with the leading edge semicon process. They have to spend huge amount of money on the trial production together with foundry to be among the first few customers on the next gen process.

For the rest of companies, existing process 1-3 nodes behind is enough.

Murica is forcing Tiongkok make a clean break from Murica tech.
The question becomes whether Tiongkok can catchup with the state-of-the art in a fast enough manner to be competitive in the world market.
If tiongkok cmi, we all laugh.
If tiongkok succeed, then I think the 1st country to send humans to Mars will be tiongkok ler.
