KDK 16" ORBITAL FAN, M40RS

Hi all,

I have the above celing fan at home. It is more than 5 years.
It is controlled by a 3-speed regulator.

Of late, only at speed 3 will it move.

I am guessing the regulator might be d problem.

Can I seek help from kakis here what could b d problem?

I have not opened up the regulator b4.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

P/s: or should I replace the whole fan with a new set instead?

Bypass the regulator then turn it on. If the fan is okay it should start spinning at maximum speed. Then you ascertain its the regulator at fault and just replace that.

hey all,

i'm gonna purchase a set of ceiling fans, and learnt from this thread that dc fans aren't that lasting and the LED will 'die' off over time.

so if i were to get AC fans, i need to have track lights around it to ensure that the room is lighted up?
any other ways besides this?
(my living room have false ceilings with downlight, so no issue there, just that the rooms how to go about it)

Thanks!

Confirmed that the fan is still ok.

Regulator problem then.
But are regulators easily available out there?
Sim Lim sells them?

You can use any brand regulator on the market, doesn't have to be kdk. I think most electrical shops that sell switches and stuff should carry them. Shoppee, qoo10 also sells them.

Fan in the middle with led surface panel light on either side. Or you can put tube lights on the wall

Hi all, anyone knows why my DC kdk 60inch ceiling fan requires push start before it will operate normally? 2 out of 10 times it will operate ok without pushing. It is about 3 or 4 years old.

Weak capacitor for motor start up. Time to have new capacitor.

But mine is a dc. Understand that it has no capacitor?

If DC motor then is logic board issue. It also has capacitor to time the starting current. But usually has some IC controller on board. Is going to be expensive to repair.

Suggest if you can check if any burn mark on the board. If lucky enough, may be just some driver FET or transistor.
