Since i've been going here for updates about ICA Application, I figured that I want to share my timeline hoping that it will help those waiting too! I applied for DES :s13:

Applied: 22 March
Phone interview: 7 April
Panel Interview: 21 July (Prior to this, I emailed HR regarding my application as its been 8 weeks since my 1st interview)
Written test: 11 Aug
Medical check up: 24 Aug (had to go for a follow up check up at mount E)
Verbal offer: 14 sept

Sooo yea it's a long 6 months wait for me but worth it in the end. Still got hope to those waiting :)

I applied ICA already hopefully join you guys soon. Bt tbh with so many applications we competing with so many good applicants hopefully I will get in. If its not Covid no one wanna join not so bad.

Like I have friends who was from SPF not accepted by SPF but people from SCDF can get it. But u wont understand the pain truly unless ure from SPF NS and they reject u but accept ur admin army friend instead no matter how much u excel in SPF last time x)

There's more than meet the eye to the process like physical attributes and personality rather than past experience.

Also I think even before covid got alot people want to join le.

Good luck 🤞

Ah okay thanks, but why do you guys wanna join ICA tho like why ICA and not sign on SPF
I applied for both ICA & SPF as I am interested in the job scope of both organisation.
The primary role of both organisation is to keep Singapore safe & secure, the only difference is that ICA deals with border security while SPF is mainly about fighting crime.

My friend really up there he got a lot of awards from Commissioner of Police and Commander and he didnt get SPF and was super disappointed. Sometimes I wonder how they pick because if ure in SPF NS and u do exceptionally well they usually want u, like if ure an NSPI etcetc.

Maybe got connections inside?
If you know any higher ranking people in spf or ica you can put as referral 😂

I'm sure reference and referral check will be more favourable

Then again also experience and good performance can be trained up
I believe they look at personality and your desire to join because after all they are choosing their future colleagues. Not some ns boy anymore is a totally diff ball game I got scdf friend dam upz in scdf but they rejected him but spf want him

you talking about the DES regulars or DEI regulars? Because there's no way NSF will perform better than DEI regulars since both are literally doing different jobs.

Im talking about working in as an NPCO........ Nothing to do with DES or DEI. Your TL also can be useless in NPC one trust me esp some of the newer DEI. Cos they dont have a lot of ground exp so they have poor judgment what to do at scene but we below them so we just do what they say hahah

Yeah you said some NS people work better than the regulars so I'm curious in what sense perform better since their jobs are different so there's really not much room for comparison

After all your main point is why some people who performed well in SPF NS never got selected so I'm just throwing out ideas why that may be the case since performance is one aspect but personality and organisational fit is another

If you're talking about the JO>SO converts being better than the fresher DEIs then that makes more sense than comparing NS people and regulars (arguably you can kinda compare DES regulars since their initial jobscope may be similar to the NSF GRF officers but I could be wrong since I'm not in the force for a long time yet)

to be honest, those 'SSG' and 'SGT' whom i see at the airport after flying back to sg don't look like real sergeants lor. i wonder if they really are in charge of a section of men/personnel?

SGT is the minimum rank now in the SPF and SPS
I think ICA also same. There’s no private, lance corporal or corporal for you to boss around. SPF maybe still got those NSF in academy you can pull rank.
