Hi all, was quoted $17.6k for a decagon 1.01c, D colour, VVS2. It's over my budget of $15k, but am tempted to bite the bullet. What do you think?

That’s a high spec combo which will cost more. I think a E-F, VS1-2 will be more to your budget. So just depend if you’re willing to pay more and not suffer too much for the high specs. If you’re particular, can stick with the D color and lower the clarity. But see if they have stock anot. Is yours a custom order?

Will a 0.49ct round diamond (about 5mmx5mm) look too small for a say US 4.0 to 4.5 ring/finger size?

Thinking of upping the carat weight to say about 0.53-0.55ct

US4 is a small ring size. 0.49ct I think will be just nice if its for everyday wear. Plus 0.49ct is a very rare size becos of the next 0.50ct price jump. I think 0.49 and 0.53 size difference will not be very noticeable. If it was me, I would stick to the 0.49ct or aim for a higher 0.5ct++ or 0.6ct since you will hit the next carat range incremental.

Thanks. What 0.5ct++ would you say be the minimum for it to be worth it?

This is for a proposal ring, so that's why I'm scared 0.49ct is too small despite the small ring size.

Edit: Just to add, the 0.49ct is a F IF. That's also why I'm seeing if can find something of lower clarity and then up the carat weight.

This is my ring if you need a guide. TBH, I doubt you will see any difference in 0.5 and 0.49, unless you go for a 0.5ct+++. Back then, there wasn't any 0.4ct++ available so I bought a 0.52ct. The overall look will depend on your ring design too. The diamond will look bigger on those thinner band styles.
In the 4Cs, most important is the Cut. It'll make the diamond stand out the most.

My gf is ring size is Asia 9 which I think is a US 5.

For reference, this is a Super ideal cut 0.5ct G VS1 I got on my wife's hand. Her ring size is 9.

Hi guys

does anyone have any websites/recommendations on where to view what are the ring designs available?

Getting a proposal ring from JP and was asked to fully utilise customising the ring...not sure if there are good sources out there that i can view catalogue and gain some ideas?

looking through other jewellery websites they also briefly show u the classic ring or those with side diamonds...that's about it.

Jannpaul has provided 3D renderings of the ring. However, it seems hard to visualise the ring on the hand (width, tapering, side profile, etc).

Is there any other services that they provide to better help their customers to visualise the ring on the hand? I tried to request to have the diamond mount on some of the classic bands (of course not set) but the SA seems unwilling to schedule us appointment to go through with us to firm up the setting.

I know after the 3D rendering, they can superimpose the 3D on ur gf hand photo to visualise. They can also do make a wax model of your design.
