The new cpu in 2022 the performance is going to be much faster than current, read somewhere double digit improvement, if it is true and price is right, probably better to upgrade to new cpu instead of upgrading to 5950x.
I see. So sad... Then mobo n cpu both must change... Spend another $700 to $900 three years down the road

just either buy the cheaper ryzen 3600 with b460 mbo and 16gb ram then wait for 2022 to upgrade

but there always new and better chip out there

Pc is always endless upgrading, it is how we justify the cost of upgrading.

Most software will probably take a while to catch up with the cpu improvement thus you probably can wait 3-4yrs before next cpu upgrade.

I'm going for the 5900x because I don't like upgrading my system much. Gonna hold onto it for at least 5 years like my 4790k.

Test results seems to suggest 5600x or 5950x offer better value in price to performance improvement ratio.

Anyway, current software unlikely to benefit much till 2-3years later when software is being updated. So your 5years upgrading cycle is just about right in getting max performance improvement at decent cost. New cpu usually will cost more till 1yr later before price starting to dip.

Like not worth to get max leh. 5600x outperform the 3900x in games. So just get entry level can Liao I think.

5600x and 3700x seem to be same price. But which one is the better performer?

5600X is better for games.

Productivity, it's about the same IIRC. The 3700X's two extra cores is balanced by the 5600X's IPC increase and higher speed.

This answers your qn.

TLDR, gaming wise, 5600x pulls ahead. App wise, 3700 still performs better.

But do take note that 5600x will improve because it will have some synergy with bignavi2 gpus. Also, new mobos & new rams next year might benefit 5600x.

3700x wont get those synergies I believe.

On hindsight... I should have gotten 3700x then oc to 5600x speed.

Is MOBO + CPU combo still recommended/suggested to get local? Looking at prices now, I'm looking at the 5600x + Gigabyte 500-I.

I'll be getting CPU+Mobo, SSD and Ram.

Looking at SSD: WD Black SN750 1TB from Amazon $183

Ram: Vengence LPX 2 x 8gb 3200 CL16 (Need a really low profile ram for my heatsink, 40mm clearance) $92

What do y'all think?

Haha, I just got a $15 "discount" from Amazon just because I messaged them to ask if there's any estimated shipping date for my order. Wasn't expecting that at all.

EDIT: CSO has no idea when it will be restocked unfortunately.

Unless gaming at 1080p or else, 3700x still better value with 2 extra core regardless plus RGB cooler.

Commonly nowadays so many background software, discord app etc. More cores is beneficial.

Put into broad perspective of cost,
3600 b450 with RTX 3080 (can decently use 3200mhz ram)
5600x b550 with RTX 3070 (ideally use 3600mhz ram)

Given the option, the top make most sense in terms of cost if 1440p or higher.
Bonus, no need to stress on 5600x stocks availability.

Seems like Amazon restocked the 5600X and 5900X was on sale for a very brief moment just about an hr ago based on what reddit said. And yet they still don’t have a delivery date for mine. Sigh....

Hmm I was checking since morning around 6am. Didn't see it on sale. Unless I missed it.
