Hi all I been thinking of buying a conti watch . My current watch is Elleese which I have worn everyday for more than a decade as a gift to me by my gf and now wife with 2 kids. Any expert would advise me on what to do for my first purchase of conti watch ?

My budget is 10-15K .
Prefer partial skeleton watch . Full also no problem .
Date complication without adjustment . Adjust only at Feb . I know perpetual complications are out of my league .
Ceramic / titanium strap . I can compromise for rubber or leather if I really like the watch . And possible to change leather strap to ceramic ?
My lifestyle : work in warehouse . Lift heavy boxes and pack item for customers . BBFA , rarely have any social gatherings and even lesser now due to Covid. My dress Code are typical rugged. Eg Liverpool Jersey and jeans . Normal dark colored shoes . Sometimes slippers go out for grocery .
I’m not a reseller / flip . Will keep the watch .
Preferably first hand . I a bit scare of pre own / PI .

Next question : I google some where to buy . I personally visited MBS , PP,RD (damn I love their skeleton but cost arms and legs) and those specialist Bonti are out of my league .

Next would be the hourglass. I seen a lot of good reviews about them . Anyone been there ? There are also some chrono , watchbox etc but I’m not sure how trusted are there . In my cars , I been dealing with AD as I have heard nightmares about PI .

Servicing after sales service . What can I do to maintain the watch ?
Any expert can kindly weight in ? Appreciate your time and thoughts

Zenith El Primero lor or if you dont mind Zelos Skeleton, only 1k plus IIRC.
Maybe Tag Heuer if you dont mind, less than 10k also. I personally feel there is no nice full skeleton watches for a 15K budget IMO.

Date only adjust in February? Sorry thats is perpetual
Just adjust once a mth cannot?

Skeleton easy to find, zenith maybe defy range. Chronoswiss Opus is a good one too. Oris has something too. All watches generally low resale value with a handful of brands.

Conti, I assume you mean European brand. The Zenith Defy Skeleton is a titanium skeleton watch with date. Adjustment of date must be made in Feb, Apr, Jun, Sep and Nov (those months with less than 31 days).

This one has low resale value but it doesn’t matter to you cos you don’t intend to sell it.

By the way... don’t think you are a BBFA cos you are married with 2 kids, how to be Forever Alone?! :s13:

"Adjust in Feb only" can be an annual calendar.

Thanks everyone for the suggestion ! I should says luxury Swiss watches lol. Bring car term over here is my bad .

Let’s says I can do without skeleton, what are the brands I can go for ? I know Rolex / Omega is never go wrong but I decided to go for other brands .

I would want someone to notice my watch and be a “conversation starter “ for any social gathering if there are any .

Any recommendation on where to make my purchases ?

I seen Edmw lots of Bbfa terms lol so just use it .

Without skeleton then the range is just too wide to make selection.
Is like I am looking for 100k-300k Conti car, suv etc but must be auto transmission . please make suggestion. Would that be hard?

For Conversation starter watch, it must be one of the following.

Big size
Yellow or Rose gold (Solid or Plated)
Difference from the rest ( No rolex or Omega stainless steel)
Diamond everywhere aka Bust down watch. (Bezel, case and bracelet)

Example below.

I feel grand seiko too underrated, can't notice from far

Let's put it this way, typical watch design in $10-15K range will not cut it to get noticed by non-watch lover. Most of them won't look at your wrist anyways and even if they do, it takes a certain sort to start asking about your watch if it is a normal design. In which case it depends on your circle, but if you hang out with people who are like you, who care about having their watch noticed - then just get a Rolex, preferably something colorful like Pepsi or Batman that will ensure that they won't miss your display of wealth (even though a lot of people can afford watches in that price range). Not sure how the conversation will go though, probably quite boring, like "wa, your Rolex very nice." "Yes, I very rich lor." "Wa, so good."

In my humble view your best bet is unusual design that can be seen from the moon: something quite outstanding and flashy like a Chaykin Joker, or unusual way of telling time like Bell & Ross Turn Coordinator, or unusual design like Hamilton Face to Face. Or you could just wear interesting design watches in an unusual way, like leaving the watch face of a JLC Reverso hanging out.

If you want to try first to see what grabs their attention, go for a Seiko Presage, Invicta Joker and Xeric. Then you can move up next accordingly, based on what grabbed their attention.

(Note: I'm only half joking)

anyway only a watch enthusiasts will probably go take a look at what's on another man's wrist.

other than that, most of the time they will be looking at girls? :o
