Hi, thinking of connecting my 55" optical out to my creative sound bar. Do I have the option to toggle between tv speaker n sound bar? Planning use soundbar when viewing music related videos.

Yes, there is an option in the sound setting for SPDIF or Speaker. But it's quite troublesome. I've not tested it as I don't have an optical cable. You can check the setting on your TV first.

I'm using HDMI to the Create Stage 2.1 (not the new V2).

If you have the Creative Stage Air, then it's not possible to connect via Optical as the Air does not have optical. It's SPDIF Aux. So you might end up using BT instead.

If you're talking about Stage 2.1 or the new V2, it has HDMI, would be a better option.

I have the Stage 2.1 using HDMI but there is a problem I need to tell you in advance. The HDMI ARC has some problem in switching on the Sound bar. Most of the time, I have to manually switch it on. Sometimes it works.

BUT there is no option to select internal speaker or sound bar on HDMI. And if it automatically switches on, you have to manually switch it off if you don't want to use the sound bar.

If you use 2.1, yes, you can also use optical.

I was hoping that someone has tried this and confirmed that it is good before purchasing an optical cable.

you don't need the cable to check the settings on your TV. You can go through it and see if it's a hassle to you to switch. May be you're ok but others at home may find it a hassle. eg after you watching some muscials, then you just off the TV. Next time you on the TV to watch the news, there is no sound from the TV speaker until the person goes through the settings to change it back to TV speaker.

When I'm on TV speaker or HDMI ARC, when I switch to SPDIF, the audio is cut off, so I presume it's going to SPDIF.

And should you intend to use HDMI, remember, there is no setting. Once connected via cable, the sound will go to the sound bar. And sometimes, it auto-on, sometimes not. (but you can borrow HDMI cable to try... may be your set does not have this problem. HDMI cable easier to borrow, I think)

info for you to think about.

Not sure if this helps, but there is an setting to switch on soundbar when tv power is switch on.

You may find this via Settings -> Inputs

There is a few hdmi settings.. I personally using device auto power off - Switch on so when my tv is switch off or on, it powers my soundbar together at the same time.

There is another setting like TV auto power on but i did not try that out as the above works well for me.. but please take note soundbar volume will always be at the loudest.. not sure if will happen to you but something to take note in case you get a shock

Might be worth a shot there.

Checking in after 5yrs+ of usage of my old faithful Xiaomi Mi TV 2 55 inch.

I loaded the Beta firmware awhile ago, thought it was kind of buggy but it was still working well enough.

Till yesterday, suddenly my video output is stuck to HDMI 1. Then I cannot control the volume of the TV and I cannot go back to home screen. I tried to get into Recovery but no matter what I do, just can't.

Anybody encounter this before or have came across solution for this?

Hi everyone! Is anyone using 65" 4S Mi TV have image quality issues playing HD online movies? I can see the different tones of black/grey or colours in patches or blocks. Also for fast moving fighting scences, the edge of object or person can become blurry. Is this normal for this TV? Sorry if i can't describe problem well. Please advice. Thanks.

What you encountered may be a combination of low bitrate video + motion smoothing.

(1) Bitrate

What is the bitrate of the online movie source that you're watching?

You could be watching an online movie -- that is streaming at low (i.e. poor) video bitrate.

Take note of the following 2 (basic) points first:
(a) Sit same distance + watch same bitrate video streaming: The bigger the TV -- the worse the video quality looks.
(b) Sit same distance + watch using same TV: The lower the bitrate video streaming -- the worse the video quality looks.

To help check that TV itself is OK...

(i) You may wish to make use of info in the 2 links below to adjust/calibrate TV settings closer to recommended display output:
https://bit.ly/2XjOZgX
https://bit.ly/2Lg5GHV

(There are tons of Web sites/links talking about TV calibration. You can Google/search more on TV calibration if you wish to.)

(ii) After done the above...

* If you have (4K) Bluray player, watch a few (4K) Bluray movies on your TV -- this greatly helps to guage how things look (i.e. whether got "image quality issues") on the TV using a high quality bitrate source.

(Once you watched many 4K + HDR Bluray movies on your TV -- you may subsequently feel that a lot of online streaming sources are lacklustre -- due to the lower bitrate video. Haha..)

If wish to test only via online streaming -- since the Xiaomi 65" Mi TV 4S is a 4K TV..

* Watch some proper higher bitrate online video sources, e.g. 4K Netflix or 4K Youtube (or other high bitrate online sources).

Some possible 4K movies on Youtube:
https://youtu.be/iOW_7Vv3z9o
https://youtu.be/Mw4ss68BrH8 (4K 60fps?)
https://youtu.be/7NZP5pi4S_g
https://youtu.be/35vzQyXCWWc
https://youtu.be/MGyCyg4DFXI
https://youtu.be/3elOB1KmKRY (4K 60fps?)
https://youtu.be/O4EikO-SEnA

(To avoid Youtube ads, you may wish to download/install/use 3rd party Android apps like Smart Youtube TV, SmartTubeNext or Newpipe to watch Youtube.)

(2) MEMC: Motion smoothing function on Xiaomi TV

For the Xiaomi 65" Mi TV 4S, some people have feedback that video looks better if disable MEMC function on the Xiaomi TV.

Hope the above helps.

Anyone has issues with their 4S TV and remote unpairing? My remote keeps unpairing after a few hours. Have to hard reboot the TV to engage the pairing mode again then it works again.

Mine does if I use Bluetooth headphones (which I connect to a transmitter for dual headphones) when I plug out the transmitter but didnt turn off the headphones. But the remote will automatically pair back.

Mine just doesn't work until I do a full reboot (full shutdown + start, not just on/off). Found that don't even need to pair again, just need to reboot and it works again. Probably the receiver going to sleep and never waking up or overload or something.
