[OFFICIAL] FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil Thread

The FIFA World Cup 2014 begins on Thursday, 12 June 2014 and ends on 13 July 2014 in Brazil.

http://i44.tinypic.com/bj8qgx.jpg

With the conveted prize up for grabs with 32 countries competing and with Brazil hosting for the 2nd time, and for the first time at a World Cup Finals, matches will be using goal-line technology, THIS IS THE FINALS TO WATCH.

As Spain look to defend their title and with previous 4 World Cup Finals staged in South America all won by South American teams, expect some tough nuts and difficult odds to predict the true and real champion.

[Teams]
The 32 teams are:
Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Italy, England, Portugal, Greece, Croatia, Russia, Costa Rica, United States, Mexico, Honduras, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Japan, Australia, Iran, South Korea, Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana

The Draw will be conducted and split the 32 teams into 8 groups of 4 teams.

Each squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup will consist of 23 players (three of whom must be goalkeepers).

Each participating national association has to confirm their final 23-player squad no later than 10 days before the start of the tournament. Teams are permitted to make late replacements in the event of serious injury, at any time up to 24hours before their first game.

[Format of Game]
The group winners and runners-up advance to the round of 16. The ranking of each team in each group will be determined as follows:
1.points obtained in all group matches;
2.goal difference in all group matches;
3.number of goals scored in all group matches;

If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows:
1.points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
2.goal difference in the group matches between the teams concerned;
3.number of goals scored in the group matches between the teams concerned;
4.drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.

From Round of 16 and onwards, it will be a knock-out format with one game being played to decide the winner.

In the knockout stages, if a match is level at the end of normal playing time, extra time shall be played (two periods of 15 minutes each) and followed, if necessary, by kicks from the penalty mark to determine the winner.

[Official Ball]

http://i42.tinypic.com/v2wvnd.jpg

The official ball of the 2014 World Cup will be the Adidas Brazuca. The name was selected by a public vote that received responses from more than 1 million Brazilian football fans; "Brazuca" received over 70 per cent of the vote Adidas, the official FIFA World Cup match ball supplier since 1970, took inspiration from elements of Brazilian culture to come up with a shortlist of three possible names for the ball that also included Bossa Nova and Carnavalesca.

In addition, Adidas has claimed that the "Brazuca" is the roundest soccer ball in the world right now.

So, the ultimate question is here, WHO WILL WIN THE FIFA WORLD CUP 2014?

Exactly. Goodluck to England and I'm seeing Argentina to come out on top. Spain definitely won't have an easy time too.

Luis Suarez: Uruguay hopeful on striker's World Cup chances

Most likely, he's still coming back and play for Uruguay afterall.
England and Italy, beware!

kendoarts 23-05-2014 04:48 PM

Donovan left off USA's 23-man World Cup roster

Now USA face an even tough battle in my opinion.

To be honest, dealing with Germany and Portugal, you definitely need an experienced team and eliminating players like Donovan simply just decreases your chance.

I'm sure you can just google it and print it into A3. Don't need to purposely buy unless you really want those.

As I heard, lots of restaurants are not purposely opening into the wee hours for the World Cup this time round. There's definitely limited places to watch I reckon.
