I will recomend you to go Causeway Bay for the New year Countdown like the Ney York style in Time Square!!

Go to Causeway Bay MTR, walk to Time Square will do. If not LKF will be another place you do not want to miss...

the 'innkeeper' here is very friendly and understands chinese. her daughter knows english too thou i've not met her daughter yet, so basically, it's chinese communication between me and her, not too much of a problem if u do not know cantonese but knows chinese

u can check the website to 'book' but i heard that they are currently full for the moment

the rate that i got for my stay is HKD260/night for a double bed /w attached bathroom
the bed is a bit small, looks more like a super single rather than a double bed but it's sufficient just for slping purpose

HK taxis has similar metering system as SG, so as below:

Flag down(inclusive of 2km or less) HK$15 ~ SG$3
Per 200meters or 60secs of waiting HK$1.40 ~ SG$0.28

+ Toll surcharge (for cross harbor and major bridges)

Compared to SG:

Flag down(inclusive of 1km or less) SG$2.50
Per 210meters up to 10km SG$0.10
Per 175meters after 10km SG$0.10
per 25secs of waiting SG$0.10

+peak surcharge + ERP + eve of holiday and holidays

So expensive anot

Anyway in HK, the last train is usually at around 1am, and for some special holidays they run their services 24hours through the night.
