hi wilb87 .. did u lose more hair prior the starting of propecia ? or have u known of anyone ?
im currently on minoxidil for 5 mths.. thinking of addng propecia to my regimen
Propecia is definitely the best drug for dealing with MPB in my opinion. When used with Minoxidil it works even better. Propecia when taken early help a lot, it stops the MPB for many people and regrow some hairs. mE 2 :d

Hi,
just started with Minox 5% about 3 weeks back. Lately started noticing more hair loss. My hair would drop by just simply running my finger thru my hair. Also feeling itchy around my waist and legs.

Anyone has similar symptoms ? Not sure if I am allergic to minoxidil and whether I should stop the application.

thx
same problem as you. itch on scalp, neck, hand etc when using minoxidil...

don't think it the minoxidil but the PPG in the formula. try to change to PPG formula like the Rogaine foam. i am using the foam now and loving it.

Hi Isopropyl, wow thats alot of encouragement from you. thanks so much. btw, i read thru lots of your past posts... lots of insights.

Anyway, i juz hope ppl who responded well to drugs like mino. and propecia can share their sucess stories with other ppl as a form of encouragement. i will consider propecia after my 8 mths.
ill share results. For thiose ppl on mino. its common to have itchy scalp, dandruff and hairloss upon the start of meidication. For Initial shedding from week 1 to week 7 i , everyday i lose around 80 to 100 hairs. its frightening. between week 8 to week 10 .. it slowly reduced from 80 ...70...60... till now is 30 to 40 everyday. no worries.. juz be patient and carry on with mino. ..

CoffeeKing:

when i was using the normal minoxidil solution, i shed like a dog. after 4months, things is still getting worst although the allegry reaction did tone quite a bit. so i decided to drop minoxidil at that time. IIRC, i sold my just order minoxidil to Hugo. haha...

later, i got on Dr. Lee PPG-free minoxidil for around 4-5months with nothing much to boost although i didn't shed as much as while using normal minoxidil. until around 3-4months ago i change to Rogaine foam which was great. fast drying and don't leave your hair looking oily. also, it suppose to work better than the solution.

take note that it is normal to see increase shedding in the beginning if it working well for you. but if things still continue after 4months, stop using it and change to other formula.

nederay:

forget about BJ101 and YM haircare. it won't work if yours is MPB. you will be just wasting your money. take the tested route of finasteride, minoxidil etc.

as TOKARA suggested. go see a doctor. if your family is not experiencing it, it might be different thing. but if any of your uncle have hairloss, you might be the unlucky one in the family just like me. both my elder brother is fine although my 2nd brother is having some problem lately too. maybe his time have come. haiz... i felt sad if he had to go through what i have. hope his hair is fine.

hmmm, i don't know about the laser effect but all you need is some heat to dilate your blood vessels.. are you all sure it's not a gimmick?
just to point on this myth. blood flow have nothing to do with hairloss. find a guy with hairloss and cut his scalp. trust me, he will bleed as bad as people who have a full head of hair.

infact, there a few case i read that when the patient have a head accident and result in part of his scalp recieving less blood flow to that particular area. the patients regrow hair in that area recieving less blood flow. simply less blood flow equal to less DHT and inflamation.

of course, part of the reason laser help is by improving the scalp and hair condition.

on how laser work on a whole, here the link to read. http://www.laser.nu/

here a letter from FDA clearing hairmax lasercomb for regrowing hair. there is alot of on going debate and buzz on the way FDA seem to approve it too lightly compare with other medical products. but hey, you don't get stuffs been approve for hairloss every other day. that only the 3rd one in so many years. it might be onto something.

http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/pdf6/K060305.pdf
A multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled trial was conducted at four sites in the United States. Subjects received either the LaserComb or a sham device. Subjects were instructed to use de device three times per week on nonconcurring days for a total of 26 Weeks. Subjects in the lasercomb treatment group had significantly greater increases in mean terminal hair density than subjects in the placebo group. Subjects in the lasercomb group also had significantly better subjective assessments of overall hair regrowth than subjects in the placebo group. No subject experienced a serious adverse event and the adverse event profiles were similar between the two treatment groups. In all instances, the LaserComb functionned as intended and the hair regrowth observed was as expected

Proscar cost slightly higher. it about $112 the last time i buy. but one proscar pill is 5mg finasteride while propecia is 1mg. they are basically the same thing. so for proscar, you cut it into 4-5piece and it last you 4-5months. so in that way, you save alot more. $30 VS $90 per month.

in singapore, you need a prescription. can get from most doctor. just explain to them and make them feel you know what you are doing. most should not stop you.

otherwise, just go down malaysia and get some without prescription.

No Point going Yunam and Beijing 101. Did you even read what their advertisement say, those people always say" My hair become less oily, less oily, cleaner scalp " They are basically shampooing your hair... I havent heard any results from people who went there..

Why don you start with Propecia first? It is a good way to start.

3 Recognized Hair-loss treatment products (FDA)
-Propecia
-Minoxidil
-Lasercomb

There are also other products like Tricomin, Nizoral and blah blah blah.

If you need concealer to hide your thinning area, you can try Toppik, just shake a bit of toppik over your thinning area, it just look so thick :).

Hope this piece of information help.
