SIS Service Centre for DOPOD - HOPELESS CASE
Hi
(Be warned, it's long story, rather complaint, unfinished as yet.)
just want to add my experience with the Dopod service centre. REALLY REGRETTED I didn't check the forum response on the two service center before I send the phone in for repair.
Brought my phone, D810 in, purchased on 14 Apr 2007 on Friday 26 Oct 2007.
My phone has died on me that same morning 8am, been having the battery draining very fast for the whole week. A fully charged battery can't last 12 hours. But they don't do contacts back up unless you have your own laptop (and downloaded and installed the active sync/outlook).
The part-timer who attended to me said better for me to bring phone home for contacts backup. Alternatively, I can also bring along the laptop and they will help me to backup.
Cut long story short, brought the phone back in on Monday morning, the person attending said they don't install and don't back up. have to download te necessary prog hand back up myself. (lost the CD and it's a new laptop). After much haggling, he finally went in to get another "specialist to assist.
AFter going through the problems with them, they said can complete in 3-5 working days.
I called them again today.
First call 930am, told me he will check and call me back on status.
3pm, I called again to ask for status. The person said he will check what's wrong and return the call.
3.30pm, I called the 4th time to ask for status. The lady said it will take 3-5 days. I told her that's what they said on Mon. She will check and call me back.
3.45pm, lady called to say it's due to faulty battery. and asked when I purchased the phone. Battery and accessories WARRANTY IS ONLY VALID FOR 6 months and I have to pay for the battery replacement, $32.10.
I requested for waiver as the warranty has only lapsed for less than 2 weeks. And I was overseas then. BTW, the details of the warranty (ie, 6 mths for battery and accessories) only available in the website. SIS can't make that waiver as they are vendor.
Then called HTC hotline, 1800-2387788 (provided by SIS) and was told the standard reply and the lady was arrogant and refused to even transfer me to higher authority. (all the managers and supervisors are busy on the phone, even if I leave my number, they may not call me back!!! SUCH RUBBISH AND ARROGANCE AND TERRIBLE SERVICE). And this call centre is based in Taiwan.
CAlled SIS again for HTC Keppel phone number, took her more than 15 minutes to call me back with the phone number, 62718086.
By this time, it's close to 5. The phone rang till dead also no one picked up. Called SIS again for another alternative number, none available.
Decision made: to collect the phone, and then bring to HTC tomorrow morning. Enough said about the whole experience.
Other experience: Another customer (D810) who was at Sis on Mon, apparently also had similar problem of the battery draining very quickly.
Other lesson: the specialist said the proper way to "induct" the battery is actually more than the first 8 hrs charging prior to first use. supposed to let the battery drained and fully charge and repeat another cycle before it's fully "inducted" for longer usage.
Other Dopod D810 owners care to share your experience?
Round two tomorrow!
