the main computer shop area is in sham shui po. Otherwise you can try the Mongkok computer centre or the shopping mall at causeway bay - top few floors(where toysrus is located).

I just came back from Hong Kong last week. I went there for 1 week together with 4 friends so we thought that we could share a prepaid card there so we can all call home to Singapore at a cheap rate. We bought a prepaid card for HKD68 and it contains HKD76 value to use for calling. IDD rates to call back to Singapore is free and call time is charged at HKD0.25 per minute. Local calls are also charged at HKD0.25 per minute. The problem is, after 1 week of calling home by 4 people, we're still left with approximated HKD60 call value unused (I can't check the value now that I'm back). I think it's a really cheap way to call back to Singapore if you are staying for more than a few days. I'm looking to sell off this prepaid card cheap to someone who have better use for it than me, so if anyone is going to HK for a trip, please PM me to buy my prepaid card. Thanks!

*Prepaid card sold, thanks!

I want to find out which "Brand" of prepaid card did you get? Cos my prepaid card cannot call back to Singapore.

i looked thru the website, there are 2 types of unlimited pass. what's the difference and which one is the best value? i'm staying at tst and might be travelling to hk and new territories.

I guess u mean the 1 Single journey and 2 Single journey pass?

MTR Mongkok to MTR Tung Chung station takes about how long on average?

if u are going to tung chung from mong kok, u can take the Tsuen Wan line (Red colour) till Lai King and transfer to the tung chung line. Shld take about 35 to 40 mins to tung chung.

I personally thing it is ok. You need to do your market research first. Know the prices you want to pay. Hop from one shop to another to ask the price and freebies.

In fact, some of the shops there have other branches in Mongkok.
WHen I bought my laptop and I wanted to upgrade my RAM, they pulled a fast one on me telling me the RAM had no stock and wanted me to come back a few days later. But I insisted and they got someone to take the MTR to Mongkok to collect the RAM and they installed it right infront of me. I really appreciated it cos I wasn't willing to travel down again.

Can bring back, but do remember the price difference not that great (about 7% due to GST here) but most lappy warrenty cannot cover other countries. So if *touchwood* then troublesome.

depends wat brand/model u buy. I did comparison... Mac prices > 10% cheaper
hp stuffs also about 15%
best deal so far has to be sony a great $250 savings :D

but of course gotta buy those tat offer intl warranty

dude, that's a tiring way to travel... but anws...

1st, You need to get to the HK/Macau Ferry terminal (Gang Ao Ma Tou)
by cab it's around HKD 60, 10mins
(best if you prepare some small change, it can be a headache if the driver returns you change in Macau dollar)

2nd, Buy a ferry ticket to Kowloon (not HK Island)
ticket is around HKD140, 1hr (night tickets are around HKD170)

3rd, Prepare a map, the YMCA is within walking distance (15mins)
Alternatively, take a cab, it's around HKD 20, 5mins

Total around HKD 220, around S$ 40, hope it helps! cheers!

Most macau hotels offer free shuttle bus service to the ferry terminal, but rarely from the airport to their hotels...

i'm sorry, i thought you're going to stay at the salisbury YMCA... YMCA international house is near Yau Ma Tei MTR station... it's about 2km away from the Kowloon Harbour, so best if you take a cab... Else MTR, take from Tsim Sha Tsui, to Yau Ma Tei, 2 stations north along the red line.

After u come out form macau airport take the free shutterbus to "Venetian" hotel after which from there find your way to the bus terminal within the compound of the hotel u alight and board the bus the "Sands Casino" after that from there buy the ticket from the information counter in the casino and take a shutter bus to the "Gang Au Ma Tou" then 1hr+ later gg ur in hk then take cab easy. anyway the taxi uncle charge 10 HKD extra for baggages.

Buy Sony laptops from HK has international warranty? Where?

I see the Sony CR series offer a good value at about SGD1200, compared to SG selling for SGD1699. That is like a $500 savings.
