I'm probably going with the Boulder. I kinda prefer it to the Durango.
Anyway before I really go make the choice, may I ask if the GT Avalanche 3.0 would be a much better buy? For cruising on the roads, which will make a smoother and faster ride? Is the difference really alot?
I kinda plan to upgrade parts slowly, like the wheelset, cranks, gears, etc. So will the GT one give me a good enough stock pieces such that I wont need to upgrade that much?
The Boulder costs $220. GT Avalanche costs $400. So which will be more worth it in the end?
i should think the durango frame would be the same class as the avalanche. but if u dont like the frame, then no point.
If u plan to upgrade the bike, start of withe at least the avalanche. (also do take note that the boulder comes with 36 spokes wheelset which is super heavy)
Since riding on road, the look for a pair of cheap slicks (If u don't mind the weight, can try the panaracer Pasela which is the same as the very popular T-serv, except it's wire bead and is alot cheaper. ) Next thing you might want to look at would be finetuning your contact points, eg stem length and rise, stack height, handlebar rise and sweep, seatpost offset (all these u need to slowly trial and error. Next thing would be a rigid fork, carbon is more comfortable and lighter. After that, you may want to upgrade to a 9 speed drivetrain (u might want to use a roadie rear D and cassette since u only doing road. after that wheelset.
By the time, u might want to change frame or straight away go road bike.
