hey. i am really interested in getting a bike in the price range of 800....

got 3 choices that i shortlisted. I saw yukon + specialised at tay cycle.

GT AVA 2.0 -> $800, Specialised (not sure model) -> $950 but auntie say can reduce to $800 its black in color. anyone know model? its a black bike with disc brake near the end of the counter ,as well as Giant Yukon Disc -> $740.

Between the three, which all in the range of 800 and below. Can't decide which to get....

I read this entire thread, concluision is yukon is not too bad for frame. and I like the frame as well, only problem is color don't have black color. But it has a shox fork sry if spell wrongly.

GT AVA. pretty neat frame, but through this thread the weight is often claim to be heavy but component is pretty decent. but didn't like it too much until no choice cause its very common.

Specialised is something i thought I wold never be able to see inside Tay Cycle.

Actually between the 3, I would decide on the specialised already.. but 950 discount until 800 is supposed to be a good deal? or can it still go lower? I was thinking maybe they markup just to drop the price...

Other wise, I think getting a GT instead... I like yukon just that bo black color.

Hai, really duno get which one. anyone can give some advice?

can pew or theor give some advice? hoep to get bike by this wekeend. join u all for cycling

Actually for this price range, if u look properly, it's about the same, all boils down to whether u like the frame or not.

The ava is considered heavy when compared to other frames like the Giant XTC/stumpy etc.

But if u are looking at Yukon/Rockhopper class, it's about the same I think.

If u ask me, between the 3, I would save abit more and hop 1 step up to get something 9 speed, since I think 800-900 I believe u should be in the market to look at 9 speed bikes. Maybe Tay got some 08 clearance model

Can u share some info on the Yukon disc? I heard alot of LBS says that the distributor isn't bringing in the 09 Yukons.

Something u can have a look at over here, http://www.khcycle.com.sg/promo.htm.

Good time to buy 08 bikes now, clearing stocks and slashing prices

Yo man, ha, a pre-welcome to this hobby :D Anyways, can follow the advice given in above posts, since you've narrowed it down to those 3 choices, then test the 3 bikes and see which one pulls at your heartstrings more. One of the most important "rules", after weight and parts and $$$ have been considered, is how the bike makes you feel. A bike you're happy with makes you proud to ride it and makes you darn happy while on it. :D

But if pressed, I'd choose between the Spec or Giant, but then again, that's just me =:p Ultimately you've to make the decision since you'll be the one buying and riding the bike. Hee, hope to see you join in the rides soon!
