Is Jaben the only shop that provides free audition?

I heard Stereo Electronics(SE) at causeway point also has free audition.

But because i stay at east side, it's very inconvenient for my to travel there. Jaben on the other hand is located at city hall, a short walk from city hall mrt station.

It's very important to audition before u purchase because u never know if you will like the sound signature, and more expensive will not meant better sound in some cases.

Also note auditioned sets likely isn't burned-in.

Didn't know how serious the counterfeit issue has been.

I am planning to get either Sennheiser CX500, or Sennheiser IE7 if the price is attractive. Importing from UK will be much cheaper though-- about $100 cheaper. Let's hope the price will fall further. :D

Have you consider CX 95?

If you can afford CX 500, CX 95 is more value for money.

Asshole creative jack up prices, I got my hands on the EP-630 in the past for just a pastry sum of S$29.90 in challenger.

I'm still waiting for SG to stock up on the goddamn Shure SE102. ;( Or I'd have to get a Philips 9850.

if my budget is about $60, what should i get?

Jack up a bit more budget and get the Creative EP-830 for $69 at Funan South Asia computer shop.

To improve the sound, I suggest you go and get the Shure earbud sleeve for $6.50 at Stereo Electronics. The sound improves by so much!

BTW, my friend, who is currently residing in UK for his PhD studies, bought the Creative EP-830 for SGD$25 only. :s13:

If me, jack up to 99 and get Philips 9800. Decent pair of 'buds, can be found at Funan South Asia Computers too.

I'd still get a pair of PortaPro's over that, though, if I didn't really have a need for IEMs.

I have Sennheiser IE7.

these are the high end IEMs from Sennheiser... cost $399 in singapore.

doing a review for head-fi ....meanwhile u can enjoy the pics.

They have a powerful but tamed bass..u can hear the sound of drums and also feel the subwooferish bass

Midrange is very smooth and vocals sound very accurate ...instruments like guitar & piano have a natural timbre.

highs are clear, not harsh..but neither do they sparkle

Soundstage is big and instrument separation is better than IE8 actually

Enjoy some pics meanwhile:

i stay at bedok. 4 mins walk to bedok inter, talk bus 168, around 55~1hr to reach causeway point.
on the way back is a good time to test for noise isolation outside lol

fyi, jaben do not take time off to burn in their iems
stereo's demo set has at least 400 hrs of burn in, methods of burn in not known thou.
reliable source.

tushar310: u from jaben rite ? recognise me ?

Another IE 7 user. :D

Here's mine.

You compare Sennheiser HD555 with IE7 before? Somehow while HD555 sounds fuller and better sound staging, it seems to be not so neutral and add "some colourings" to the music. IE7sounds so natural and detailed that I can hear serious recording flaws for those compressed music (128 bits). In the end, I have to re-rip all my music to loseless formats.

I lend my IE7 to my colleague to listen, and he refused to return me until a few hours later. :s13:

Hey,

Any idea where to repair earphones? Mine has the wire coming out from one side and thus only able to hear from the left side...
