thinking of wearing contacts as well, monthly preferred.

my astig on my right is 170~ with negligible short sightnesses
my degree on my left is 100~ with 50 astig iirc.

which brand should i go for? what's the cost like?

In layman terms, Acuvue astig lens are designed in such a way that empowers blinking to re-orientate the lens back to the correct position. That means you don't have to care about any marking or whatsoever, just wear it as a regular lens, and after a few blink, the lens will rotate itself to the correct position, thats the technology ASD. Acuvue Astig is a 2weeks disposable lens.

advantages

cleaner
(since its disposed every 2 weeks)

more hygienic (if you buy a monthly lens n dispose every 2 weeks, you will get the same benefit of hygiene but more expensive n none of other benefits)

higher Oxygen flux due to hydraclear(basically silicon hydrogel material, highly waterphilic & high water holding capacity, one indicator of your eyes depriving O2 is when you see bloodshots or blood vessels around your pupil, long term wearing of such lens is ofcourse bad for eye )

greater comfort
(hydraclear or silicon hydrogel is a very soft n flexible material that is very breathable and moisture rich)

Lens reorientate easily (other brand like B&L uses ballasted design which means relying on gravity to stabilise the lens, that means when you run or play sports or lie side way or in anyway where by will shift your CG will also disorientate the lens n blinking will not help to restore the orientation only way is to realign yourself to gravity)

UVA/UVB protection ( that does not mean you can throw away your sunglasses, it just means additional protection for your eye, if you need sunglasses due to sensitive eyes, you will still need it)

Disadvantages

not cheap (you only 1 pair of eyes)
need to throw every 2 weeks (its jus a matter of getting accustomised)

basic biweekly non astig -1 box - 6lens - single power

so if you have diff power

you will need min 2 box - 12 lens - 3 month - $76-old price, in most optical shop (excluding big names like capitol, nanyang etc or other optical in shopping malls) usually neighbourhood shop you can get this price

price indicated is not applicable for hydraclear lens such as oasys or astig w/hydraclear

the warning is there and its clearly stated and advice are given but if you chose to wear exceeding the prescribed duration/period, the risk should be known too-infection. you only have 1 pair of eyes.

this is like milk, once open consume within 7 days, but if you chose to keep it for longer and continue to drink it then it's your responsibility if anything would to happen to you as the instruction is very clear

its unsafe to continue wearing lens exceeding the period of exposure( it's period of exposure, regardless you wear it or not, the moment it's open, the countdown timer starts ticking)

possible consequences- infection-umbrella term

dry eyes- prolong poor wearing habit will lead to permanent irreversible degradation of tear ducts ,irritation- eyes become more sensitive to environmental stress,

choose a lens that best fits your lifestyle then your budget(you can find shops that sells cheaper lens)

define:
purpose(sports,leisure,special occasion)
frequency(using 1week-7days or 1 month-30days as an indicator)
environment(sunny, indoor, dusty, high heat, give a specific environment or divide them into percentage )

after you can define all these i can give my 2c worth on the type of lens best fit and where to get them $$ probably

Paris miki has very strict regulations on contact lens prescription, they are very professional and insist in eye examination by qualified optometrist before prescribing any contact lens even if you have been wearing it for the past 10 years. several outlets in SG

http://www.parismiki.com.sg/outlets/

Yes your eye wear specialist has a department solely for contact lens prescription and many optometrist so to reduce waiting time for eye examination

http://www.ideas-people.com/yes/?page_id=21

integrated eyecare provide high standard of eye examination service too

Integrated Eyecare Centre
Vivo City
1 Harbourfront Walk, #01-60
Singapore 098585
Tel: +65 6270 5665

acuvue seems suitable for your described condition but further eye examination is required to determine that

eye examination may seem trivial to spectacles users since but to contact lens wearer, it can be a difference in unbearable irritation from inaccurate prescription to feeling of wearing nothing and healthy eyes

full frame, rimless or half rim ..what matters most is you look presentable or achieved the look you wanted. half rim gives a twist off from rimless- becomes loose easily, half rim helps solves the problem n gives abit of playfulness in that 'clean' look

hi i would like to know m i suitable for contact lenses if both eyes myopic 450 deg and 200 astig each? any reliable eyewear shops beside nanyang optical and spectacle hut?

n is the current trend specatcles with half-frame? thanks

I was referring to the one with astig. Awayaway got astig.
Not 76. Should be 120 to 130. Astig more expensive.

so both are dailies acuvue one with astig the other is non-astig?

the recent astig lens giving u prob, how many time has it happen?

the problem surface the moment you wear it or after long hours?

how many hours do you wear them usually?

is there much diff between your actual astig power/axis and the astig power/axia you are wearing?are you made known to that?

where did you get your lens from, did you fill up any record sheet with them?

observe the following wear and if problem persist you should approach the vendor where you bought your lens from

how many box did you purchase from them?

i presumed you throw away the lens after each use?

acuvue lens... 1 astig 1 no astig

e weird one is my astig lens

full eye examination is like 2mths ago
