So u also installed by Gain City? What insulation u using? Any problems with their insulation? I feel worried coz the guys like doing things anyhow. A bit worried.

so far so good... at least they did a much better job than my previous free-lance contractor.

the insulation given was Amaflex, should be the same for all GC bah... But i upgraded to 3/4" thick (kia-su singaporean) coz i had severe condensation issue previously. :(

no... unless the rubber insulation covering the power cables to the FCU cracks/breaks, which is highly unlikely, if so then most of us would be in peril by now... hehe ;)

hm.. this is strictly my own views k?

i think the old Fujitsu had very slim/small FCU which impeded the the transfer of 'coolness' into the room. The result was cold gas in; cold gas out. And sweating was common, at least for me and another close friend.

GC told me that the newer Fujitsu model has oredi addressed this issue, and for what i see it is larger than the older one.

but one bad experience was enough for me... i went for Toshiba.

What about Daikin? Have you enquire the price for it?

Anyone using Mitsubishi Heavy Inverter Sys 4 ?

Model:
1x SCM80ZG-S (Outdoor Unit)
1x SKM28ZG-S (FCU)
2x SKM35ZG-S (FCU)

I was quote $3580/- with the following items / materials:

- Stainless Steel Bracket
- Totaline Copper Pipe (Unknown Gauge)
- 1/2" Grade 0 Insulation (K-Flex)
- Totaline wire 3 core / 70 & 4 core / 40 (May I know what is this ??)
- PVC Trucking
- PVC Drainpipe (16mm)

- 2 Trips Installation
- Dismantle existing air-con

This is outdoor unit very noisy ? I read the spec it say 66db.
What is the normal noise level for a 32k BTU Condensing Unit ?

ok thanks ..

can anyone comment of the noise level ?

is 66db very loud for a condensing unit ?
tat 66dB is on full load. tat means the sound level wil only for a short period of time. once the room reaches the temp, it wil reduce to part load, thus sound level wil also be reduce.

Mitsubishi no good. Toshiba ok? Gain City ok?

I am looking to replace my current Mitsubishi aircon.
It is an inverter. It did not save me electricity! It also often give me problems. I have enough servicing it. I need to replace it. It is a 3-split unit. it doesn't even have "fan only" mode (only to know it with a shock after buying). Very upset.

Which brand can you recommend?
I heard Daikin or Panasonic is good. Is that true?

I went to Gain City to ask 2 days ago.
They recommended me one model of Toshiba (indoor unit: RAS-M10SKCV, outdoor unit: RAS-3M20SACV) . It is an inverter. They say that's the only model where the compressor (outdoor) unit is still made from Japan. All others are from either Malaysia, Thailand or elsewhere. Mitsubishi Starmex which is advertised a lot is from Thalland.

They quoted me this:
SGD 2739 - for the 3-split air con
SGD 150 - for installation
SGD 359 - for extended warranty to cover all parts, services for 5 years (std is 1 year)
SGD 350 - for 5 times regular servicing over 2 years\
Total: SGD 3598

My questions are:
1. Is Toshiba a reliable brand for air conditioner? (They are the original inventer of inverter makes any difference)?
2. Is there any quiet and reliable non-inverter air con you can recommend and what's the cost?
3. Is it better to buy from Hong Tar as I heard quite a bit of bad stories about Gain City? (Can anyone comment about their experience with Gain City - good or bad))

Many Thanks.

Best Regards,
Kang Hu

Hong Tar also got really bad complain also..
u might wan to look at this page, http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=1555211&page=16
majority get aircon from gain city, n their review is gd.

wat model is yr current one? since u already installed inverter, which giv u alot of problem(servicing for inverter is exp), does not save u electricity. mayb u shld go for non-inverter than..

for brand, it up to u lor. but if for non-inverter, 3 tick, system-3, Daikin would be the choice. as from the search at coolserve.com.sg, there is toshiba n daikin, but Daikin has the higher COP, thus better.

but for yr info, Daikin only makes aircon...
