My recovery from lasik a bit strange. I used up my steroid eye drops on the 6.5th week, so there was about 1.5 weeks without steroid eyedrops before by 2nd chkup.
On the day of the 2nd chkup at the end of 8 weeks, my right eyesight had improved to about 20/20, my left to about 20/30, together about 20/15. In retrospect, I think there was a drastic improvement on in those 1.5weeks of without steroids. Doctor prescribed me steroids again to reduce risk of scarring due to rapid healing. As a result, my vision started to blur again to 20/30 or 20/40

On the 11.5th week, my steroid eyedrops ran out again. So far 1 week has passed without dropping any steroid eyedrops, yet my eyes are still around 20/30 to 20/40. Dunno why no drastic improvement this time.... By right they should improve a lot, I researched this online so it must be true. Next chk up is 4 days later.

Anyone have this sort of experience? ie No sudden improvement in vision after stopping the steroid eye drops.

I've been seeing my eye specialist for couple of years for floaters problems. Floaters are those worm like things you sometimes see against bright backgrounds e.g. sky, etc.

According to my specialist, he says I'm suitable for lasik but my conscience tells me better be safe than sorry.

Any of you guys out there with same condition but still went ahead with lasik? Please share your post-op stories.

Now tat u mention, i used to have this floaters problems with my eyes also. During bright light, i can see "larva worms" like floaters, like those germs or small mites under microscrope like moving around. I used to assume everyone eyes experience tis under bright light. Now after reading ur post, i tried tis morning, no more floaters after my lasik. However i do experience minor dry eyes when i wake up, slight halo n starburst, which is getting better over the time.

34 still very young ma. look at Uncle Ketua, still very active ler.. lol :) But u might wana take note, the flap created for Lasik will not "heal", meaning there is always a possible for the flap on ur eyes to dislodge due to direct hard impact. Ex., Mike tyson landing a punch on ur eye, haha. However, there is also feedback ppl who do intralse lasik get hit by basketballs on they eyes, or muai thai punch, nothing really happened. U can also consider epi-lasik, so u dont have to worry about flap dislodge if u r into direct contact sports etc.

Intralace = Bladeless will not have this problem? :)

microkeratome = Bladelasik using mechanical cutting tools to create the flap, then flip over, lazer is the apply to ur eyes, after tat flip back the flap, and ur flap should"heal" over time.

Intrlase Lasik = Using lasers to replaced mechanical cutting tools for creating the flap, the rest of the procedure is pretty much the same.

Epi-Lasik = No flap is need to be cut or create, therefore no worries of any flap dislodgement months or even yrs after ur lasik.

Yes, there is a possible of side-effect after lasik, ex. halo, ghosting vision, starburst, vinetting ect. But as technology advance, i feel lesser of this side effects r being reported now.

yes, to speak, Epi-lasik is the lastest tech of the 3, but each indivual technique serve different purpose. Ex. Epi-lasik is more suitable for active ppl who do contact sports, who have thin cornea tat r not suitable for flap lasik like microkeratome or intralase lasik. However ppl which high myopia might not be suitable for the Epi-lasik instead, due to the conture of the eyeball cornea, etc. Well, im not a eye Dr, tis r jus some of the info i read on the net. But u might wana read up on each technique of lasik, their possible side-effect, + & -, discuss with ur Dr, b4 deciding which method to use.

Shinagawa should have epi-lasik, as stated on their www. I did check with Dr Lee from Shinagawa if epi-lasik is suitable for me, he suggest i use intralse lasik instead. But he never mention they dont offer epic-lasik. U might wana call n check wif them to be sure.

Epi-lasik is a variation on PRK, it uses a special blade used to remove the epithelial and bowman layers without cutting the corneal stroma layer. I know SNEC, Eagle eye center, and clearvision.com.sg all got offer epi-lasik. And I have around 1000 per eye plus astig 200+ per eye, also got corrected by epilasik.

But my pupils quite small, around 5.5 and 6.1 diameter I think, and my corneas thick enough, around 0.55mm, after epilasik should be around 0.4+mm

The advice as shown below is important!!!

Many lasik surgeons, wanting to earn more money, have forgotten the meaning of medical ethics. Some even perform lasik on those patients who are really borderline cases (not informing the patients as well!!). Btw, wavefront lasik, a relatively new technology, has not really be proven to reduce night vision effect. Lasik eye surgeons only aim for 6/6 corrected DAY vision. EVEN a vision is 6/6 IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE CLARITY AND QUALITY OF VISION IS GOOD...

Imagine this, you may be able to read the words on the chart however you see double of them.... however, to a lasik surgeon, that is negligible as you CAN READ THE WORDS which is a 6/6 vision!!!

I have been wondering why some eye centres are not listed in http://www.lasiksurgery.sg ?? Make your guess.... it might have some meanings, especially with regards to the second bold statement which might give a hint to those clinics which might give "false" claims...

"Nonetheless, patients are advised to "hunt" around and consult more than one LASIK surgeon, and to not solely base the decision on price alone.

Enquire about the doctor's track record, ask questions about pre, during and post-op so that you are better prepared and ensure the doctor conducts a thorough evaluation before recommending the treatment.

Singapore isn't without its own horror stories and the LASIK industry has been so competitive recently that the MOH had to intervene with stricter regulations.

Before my eyes Right: 600 Myopia 200 Asitg Left: 625 Myopia 200Asitg. Doc mention my cornea abit thinner than average, but still able to go for the ops. Also mention clearly my chances of having Driving without glasses is 94% and 85% of getting 6/6 perfect eyessight. I was never pressure into doing the lasik surgery even after speaking to the Doc after the eye evalution.

I just done my 1 mth post lasik ops review. Now my both my Left and Right: 0 myopia 25 Asitg. 6/6 perfection vision, no double vision or blurring. Still experience a slight halo at night, but its much better compare to day 1. Was already told by the Dr that will experience halo due to my high asitg, but will heal over time of 3 mths.

If u read online, there is bound to be + & - of lasik surgery. Just like fairies tales and horror movies. The experince n the result for my lasik surgery is fantastic. Some ppl tends to belittle lasik surgeons, cosmetic surgeon etc, just because the profession ain't life-saving or health related. But still i feel very grateful to my Lasik surgeon, now i can see without glasses, clearly!

Hi Johhny, I just went for Shinagawa lasik pre assessment. Dr Lee said I wasnt a suitable candidate for their Wavefront lasik. My eyes condition were pretty similar with yours. I had 600 Myopia, 200 Astig on my left and 500+ Myopia, 100 Astig on my right. However, my cornea thickness is only 490 microns. What's yours?

There was no other alternatives given from Dr Lee. However, after further research on the net, Epi Lasik seems a possible solution for me. From Shinagawa website, it states they do perform Epi Lasik. The ladies in Shinagawa also had clarified they do provide Epi Lasik. Has everyone esle done Epi Lasik in Shinagawa before?

My cornea thickness is around 490+ to 500. i cant exactly remember the actual. U might wana consider epi lasik. However, Shinagawa though states on their www tat they do have epi lasik option, i hardly heard reviews, info or feedbacks from Shinagawa. I went for their forum talks, and no epi lasik was mention either. U might wana consider Lasik Surgery Clinic at paragogon, where they use the more advance VISX machine, which help for those with thinner cornea for cornea saving surgery. Price wise is much more expensive.

Relac Bro, wont blind 1. Most cases tat leads to blindness is due to infection after the surgery. As long as u follow the medication n eyedrops after surgery, u should be fine. :) I urge u do lasik if u r those sporty type, cos its really make a huge difference to ur lifestyle. Pay by HSBC c.card have extra discount, dont know isit still ongoing, u might wana ask them. :)

I'm also going to shinagawa for the pre-lasik evaluation on 1st sep. I chose them over LSC because of price and some bad reviews on LSC. I read that it isn't the doctors that recommend what package or type of lasik to do, but these "marketing" execs that do not have a medical background. I'm not putting my pair of eyes into the hands of a few sales people who try to sell you the most expensive package available. And for a clinic(LSC) that will "rush" you into undergoing the surgery on the very same day, I think their practices need to be questioned.

I am going a day before you. LOL. I called them, if after the evaluation, I want to go ahead for the surgery, it can be done the next day, maybe I bump into you
