Can't. I prefer someone with long track record (be it life or business or anything substantial) because I want my MP to be a leader and hit the road running. MP is not for training. Sorry to you, Nyonya-ette, just as I sayonara-ed TPL.

But isn't it strangely unwise that knowing how TPL is getting flag for her age and experience, the opposition comes up with some one even younger??? like.. WHOat?

majority of people do not "condemn" TPL because of her age, that's what PAP think.

people "condemn" her because of her immaturity
- facebook photo
- biggest regret is not able to bring parents to universal studio
- etc

but so far there isn't much on NS.. so can't really make any comparison. if it's going to be a lipstick war.. then I pity the residents at MP...

Thats the problem with GRCs. Always have 1-2 backbenchers going in via back door.

So nicole seah evens out tin pei ling.

Anyone who is as sarcastic as GCT in marine parade grc?

whoa u still using pappy logic to think ah? u still believe ppl whack TPL bcos of age, bcos pappies say so on 154th media? =:p

ppl whack TPL cos she's from pappy and pappy always use credentials and experience and all that bull to whack others. shooting TPL is just getting a pot shot at pappies. she's got zero credential, no experience, and only tok cok and stomp feet. that's enuff to shoot pappies.

who TPL actually is, who cares? =:p

bad move by opposition. it just cheapens the meaning of MP above what TPL already did and now you can't even talk about all of TPL's inexperience that doesn't also apply to this girl. Sigh.

i agreed....most dont condemn TPL because of her age or gender...that is what PAP thinks and wants others to think...
it's other stuffs like above mentioned and the fact that she is riding on GCT's coat tail..:s8:

and u know nicole seah very well already? i have not seen anything from her, but all the criticisms about inexperience of TPL apply to her too, and the opposition cannot use their strongest argument - that PAP cheapens the MP seat by putting a coattail candidate - at their rallies anymore

I'll see what she has to offer first.

I don't think being "young" is the issue here. In the UK, an 18-year-old independent candidate, Tom Bletsoe, even won a by-election to become England's youngest town-councillor.

Youth has its advantages, chiefly a greater willingness to try new things. If he or she is willing to listen to the advice from more senior ranks and find the right balance, then being young might actually help. It comes down to whether the young person shows any leadership qualities in him or her that matters.

The case of Tin Pei Ling is that she showed little, if anything, that suggests she has what it takes. Her youthfulness only made things worse in this case. Her views on social issues (or the lackof), and the remarks on the income gap further disqualifies her as the right candidate for the people. She isn't even running in the ward where she did her grassroot work.

We don't know what's Nicole political orientation are, so it's better not to pass judgement for or against her until we here her speak. If she turns out to be another TPL then it's a bad move by NSP to field her. But if she shows more substance than TPL, that will further expose the lack of depth among the young candidates that PAP is fielding this election.

She isn't even running in the ward where she did her grassroot work.

What went wrong when TPL speaks is she said 2 things

"Actually the cost of education for the young ones is very low"
"For elderly, healthcare is already quite low and manageable in Singapore "

So people put her age and her lack of experience based on the kind of words she said.

If she phrase it as,
"We are doing our best to lower the cost of education and will continue to bring down further the cost of education to benefit every Singaporean. We welcome all feedbacks to improve the situation even better."

The 1st and the 2nd is complete contrast. And in politics the way the message is delivered is crucial. When she said cost of healthcare in Singapore is very low. To someone who just got his bill from a heart surgery asking him to pay $6000 when he only earns $1500 a month, does anyone think what TPL has said strikes a chord with how he is feeling right now?
