Question

Can someone explain to me why all the higher end system posted by Adrianlee are all intel based as opposed to AMD? I was wondering if any of the 'new' mobos like the AMD A75F-A or M5A97 Evo in recent articles are worth considering?

Is this good to go? Thks :D

Not good to go. You don't even have a watercooling system to cool that GPU.

You chose a triple channel set ram to use on a dual channel mobo. And the mobo, why do you even need that?

I suggest you do more research and read up on some recommendations already made on this thread or at part 1.

Intel Core i5 2300 & BIOSTAR H61MH ~ $314
or AMD Phenom II X4 955 & Biostar A880G+ ~ $265
Kingston DDR3-1333MHz 8GB (2X4GB) ~ $56
EVGA GTX 560 1GB ~ $255 or Sapphire HD 6870 ~ $246 or Sapphire HD 5850 Xtreme ~ $218
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB ~ $52
Samsung SATA 22X DVD Rewriter ~ $24
FSP Aurum AU-500W ~ $115
Ikonik EN2 ~ $55
Total ~ $8XX

I have not been reading up and computers for awhile since the 8800GT days and i'll leave the tough job for people who know more to select the right configuration so...

Is this setup better/much better than my current computer? (Comp spec at the right)

My current comp about 4-5 years old can play starcraft 2 with almost no lag so i suppose that the computer these days should give me even better performance at a much cheaper price?

I suppose the cpu speed will certainly be better than my current one but i'm more interested in

EVGA GTX 560 1GB ~ $255 or Sapphire HD 6870 ~ $246 or Sapphire HD

Is it better / a lot better than 8800GT?

Overall what i'm going to use for this computer is probably D3/BF3 at preferably max out/near max settings

The 2 cards are both a lot better than your existing card and will be sufficient to produce good minimum FPS for most games.

But if you want to max out all settings, might have to consider getting higher end models. For your reference: http://gamegpu.ru/Action-/-FPS-/-TPS/Battlefield-3-Alpha-test-GPU.html

yes, not intend to OC as my friend does not know anything about com spec. he just wants a com to play his game, youtube, blast songs.

does it really a need for SSD for a smooth play of HON, Dragon nest?
it getting a WD black 1TB should be enough?

what my friend need is just a com for him to play those game, i dont think he will notice any different with all these good stuff, it will a waste on it. i think so? haha!

it would be the best if we could lower the price just nice for his need?

any recommendation? :)

SSD doesn't really help for gaming only load map faster.

No, Hitachi would be better.

If is just purely gaming and want lower down budget can just take out the SSD.

just wanna ask GTX 480 is inferior to GTX 560 Ti?

nope the other way round in terms of perf. 560ti is about 5-10% lower than 480.

but then 480gtx generally runs hotter and therefore a lot more noisy(cos fan spins up to lower the temp) and probably needs more power. it's previous gen technology.

Request for recommendation.

Hi Guys,

Would like to get your recommendation for a completely new rig. To be used purely for gaming purposes. Budget is 2K. But would like to buy the NZXT phantom casing which must be included in budget. I already have Win7 install CD.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I need a recommendation for the below system

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD7-B3
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6870
RAM: Corsair Vengence Blu 1600Mhz DDR3 (16GB)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 370
Power Supply: OCZ 600watt ModXStream Pro
Optical Drive: Sony Optiarc
Hard Drive: Seagate 1 TB 7200RPM

Basically the above is kinda..of a custom mac. But I would want more performance out of it, especially graphics wise for gaming.

I would prefer a graphics card with bare minimum being a GTX 580, and.. would be even better if I can maximize the performance out of my budget of 2.75k

Not to worry about the OS, Keyboard and Mouse. 2.75k would be wholy for the CPU itself only.. Hope to see you guys recommendations and helping me place the price tag on the above items 1 by 1.
