everyone should go for a full eye check every 6mth-2 years depending on age, risks and own initiative.Hi guys, happened to chance upon this thread.. and learned quite a few things
I've been wearing contact lenses for quite some time now. The first time i got mine was about few years back. The optom (or maybe optician?!) did look at my eye through the eye slit machine thingy, bright lights and stuff, and let me test quite a the lenses, and gave me quite a tutorial about wearing lenses.
So far I'm fortunate enough to not have any infection, except for this one time my eye swelled due to a sty or something (prob cos I skipped some proper care in Ns... Learned the hard way...). I went to SNEC that time, but the follow-up didn't seem to be as detailed as what was described here, mainly just looking through the eye machine.
However, reading up on all the previous posts, I was wondering if i should go to SP or RP or a hospital/specialist for a full eye health check up, as I would be going overseas soon and was thinking of getting a new stock of contact lenses ( maybe dailies).
Lol sorry for long post. I would just like to know if I should go for the full check at this point of time, and where should I go for it. Thanks!

Only have a pair of eyes, have to take care properly. Those who are looking for affordable contact lens fitting can visit NGEE ANN or Singapore Poly at $5 only. Might be a long process(1-2hrs)for some, but I kinda find it relaxing lol. Just sit there and relax, +1 if it's a chiobu attending to you.
Would like to ask some question regrading cleaning of lens. It it important to rub it both before & after wearing the lens? Sometimes very lazy to rub after wearing, so I just take them out and store it. But I always rub before I wear it.
Ngee Ann Polytechnic Optmometry Centre Online Appointment Booking Form
They charges a small fee of $5 for the public and $3 for their students. Given my previous experience with them, they will contact you to confirm the appointment.
Was wearing Biomedic 38 last time and it was good and not much problem. Recently bought a new box but upon wearing found that this lens will give a blurry vision upon looking far(like next blk blk signage), last box was ok.
It is that my degree has gone higher? anyway my spect has the same problem too! See opp blk signage a bit blurry cannot see the Street XX underneath it. But my previous box of lenses was good no such problem.
Don't buy lens because its cheap. Buy because its prescribed to youSaw Capitol Optics selling Astig Dailies 4 boxes for $155, good price?
Go check your eyes man. Degree don't change that sudden.
Probably give wrong prescription. When look at things near, there is no problem. Problems arise when looking far!
when you guys go for check up got wear contacts? or wear spec ? feel like going to Sp to check up after school ) eyes been doing fine with the aosept solution no more itchyness. but still gotta check the lens fitting.
Yea AOSept is the best solution. But always remember to soak at lest 6 hour to allow the solution to neutralise. Must use the case provided if not it will not work. U must not rinse the solution with aosept and put it in direct contact with your eye. The cornea will burn.
Sounds dangerous. What if lens drop and is dirty and need to rinse and clean then worn straight after?
Anyway I have booked my check up with Ngee Ann Optmometry Centre.
Since its just $5 so can give it a try. Forget to ask if i can wear my contact there on that day? Anyone who went before got any idea?
