tot of getting this. guess can save 300 bucks liao.

Ya, if can't get TV2, it means you're on scv cable. In any case, don't buy anything yet until next year, or you'll regret your purchase.
Singapore will be using DVB-T2, but the exact implementation is unknown. Later like last time, using DVB-T but unlike everyone else (who uses MPEG2 codec), they experiment and implement H.264. Causing all the previous DVB-T equipment cannot work also.

HDB should be replacing the rooftop to DVB-T2, instead of letting the antennas status quo.:'(

Can someone just tell me where to buy so can watch the normal free to air channels and HD5?

Lol, I'm damn confused and lost after reading all the 5 related threads on TV antennas...

So now should I still get this type of antennas?

Antenna (UHF / VHF / FM)

or should get those digital type ones?

Seriously just hook up your computer to tv.. All the shows are already ready in the internet. Even tv shows for ch 5 or ch 8, people have upload online. So why trouble so much to change this and that?

hi ppl,

I live in the west and used to be able to view HD5 and HD8 on my room tv which is connected to indoor antenna. Then about a few months' ago, I wasn't to view the HD channels anymore. Does anyone know the reason for this? Is there a way to fix this?

nice article knowledge on antenna.now i got 1 Qs what filter to use to filter the signal or how to do the filtering.i been searching on this info.:)
I have been absent from this forum for quite some time. Just saw your question (to refresh your memory please read thread #1).

Generally, there are band pass and band stop filters. They may be found in specialist shops selling TV antennae, amplifiers & parts in Sim Lim Tower (and perhaps elsewhere).

First, you have to know what are the signals (or interference), their frequencies and signal levels. Then you decide on the appropriate filter to attenuate them to below the wanted signal.

If there are more specific questions please let me know.

Edit Note: More information can be found here>>http://www.tinlee.com/Matv_filters.php?active=3

If ur HDB has antenna means u've a socket in ur hse tat is connected to it. Just run cable from there to ur room.

Only partially correct. Most owners opted to change the connection over to SCV during their roll out. They can receive free-to-air channels even if they don't subscribe.

Starhub (SCV) disallow tempering of their connections. Why do you want to change? HDB signals only give you one extra channel TV2. I don't include TV1 because it is hopeless with all the interference.

If there is an existing antenna at the rooftop, means the hses should hve two socket one for SCV and the other for antenna??

Not for HDB, may be for private properties. Are you living in HDB apartment?

I have both in my condo.

Edit: If HDB owners make their own modifications, then it's a different story.

Yes, I'm in HDB. Rooftop antenna means there is a socket in ea house for it. SCV came into the pix later.....thus, if the newer HDB do not hve antenna socket and only SCV...then there shouldn't be any rooftop antenna....since all hsehlds using only SCV cable...and it doesn't make sense for HDB to install rootop antenna if there is no users right??
