Forward path is now using HE that has change from Seabone previously.

the forward path does not affect the the path taken for traffic to return to you. But if you can post the traceroute on our forum we can take a look at it.

Hello,

The monthly fee will depend on what plan you choose - please note that there is a one time registration fee ($53.50) and a one time activation fee ($80.25) applicable for all plans.

You can use any router you wish, just need to let us know when you sign up and we'll configure the Zhone modem as a bridge.

Freedom vpn users can try out 7 days free trial of vpn service at Unblock Us - smarter faster VPN

I am already on my third day of the trial and feel that the vpn service is even better then freedom vpn in areas like more sites from more geographically locked region are inside, speed is similar or even faster then freedom vpn. I can access google USA play store, apple iTunes store, national Geo, history channel, BBC I player and others too. Most of all, the price is cheaper then freedom vpn and can be use on apple tv, GoogleTV, tour, wd tv and other iPhone, iPad, Android n Windows pc. I feel that other that freedom vpn either improve or other subscribers can save cost going to sign up at unlock-us.com or other competitors out there. The previous version of vpn that give us an USA IP or UK IP would have been a better choice if I would consider to continue freedom vpn.

Viewqwest, we hope that you can optimise and improve on your freedom vpn. are you looking into subscribers feedback seriously.

Just to clarify, unblock-us.com is NOT a VPN, it's a geo-location faking DNS service, it basically tricks those geo-locked sites (like Netflix, BBC iPlayer) into thinking you're coming from a valid location (US / UK). They do this by having their own DNS servers (which they mirror worldwide) and their own servers which create the correct cookies / Ajax responses. As geo-locking is a constantly moving playing field unblock-us have to stay on their toes to provide the service.

The big advantage of course is that you're not getting the content through a bandwidth-limiting VPN but direct from the source (and in some cases even local CDN).

I've been using unblock-us now for over six months and have no need for a VPN. One word of caution, I use unblock-us DNS for my devices (Apple TV, Boxee, Smart TV) but switch between VQW DNS and unblock-us DNS on my computers because unblock-us DNS doesn't always give the best local CDN addresses (for "normal" browsing).

A Chinese New Year "Surprise Hong Bao" to upgrade all existing plans by 100% (i.e. 100Mbps plan become 200Mbps) is sufficient to send a shockwave across all RSPs. :D

Thanks for helping out on the clarification. It is sometimes very challenging to explain what the purpose of Freedom VPN is. We see the value of unblock-us as well.

Our objective at VPN is to allow our customers to access streaming media content from multiple geographic locations on the same connection without having to switch VPN servers or pay for multiple servers. The moment you pay for 2 VPN servers from Strong VPN lets say your cost doubles. We want to provide a quality experience with more than sufficient bandwidth to access sites like Netflix without any buffering in HD.

Our objective is not to hide the identity of the user so they can access blocked sites by MDA (ie playboy, i love porn, etc etc) for such activities deemed inappropriate by our government, there are alternative solutions that we do not and will not provide.

Freedom VPN 2.0 will be a very interesting enhancement and will comply to the licensing requirements of MDA of service providers.

Well, I think the value you add is making it easy for 'normal users' (not those who hang out on this thread) to hook their devices up to the second port on the Zhone and just see it work. Fiddling around with static LAN IP's and DNS settings isn't for everyone.

That said you may want to look into offering some kind of unblock-us-like service as it doesn't have the overheads of maintaining a VPN service and has many advantages for users. It also doesn't undo MDA rules (if you don't want it to).

I've a subscription to Freedom VPN and use it almost daily and exclusively for Pandora. Other than that I use it to gain access to georestricted websites that is not video related(do not fall into the Freedom VPN list)

Freedom VPN is now starting to be less useful because I cant use it to access other websites not in the list. Not even US Youtube, and the list is rarely updated.

Im trialing Hola Org which is a free add-on. If it is stable and provide acceptable streaming, which so far it is for CBS.com, I will be canceling my Freedom VPN at the end of the month.

I dont care whether it is simply DNS spoofing or complete VPN connection - i just want access to all US/UK-only websites which apparently cannot be done by Freedom VPN. Hola does not do this, but i appears to have a free 1 yr VPN subscription which can do the task for now.
