Recommend protein powder

hi, some qns here.
im slightly fat, with most fats around the tummy area.
currently going to gym abt 3 times a week.

if i wants to lose fat and gain lean muscle.
shld i get fat burner or take protein whey as a supplement?

currently looking at Syntha 6 or dymatize elite whey protein.

thanks alot

maybe sazuro,frostbyte or someone else as knowledgeable should come up with a thread titled "SHOULD I GET A FAT BURNER?" and get that stickied.

stickies are too detailed for the lazy to find. And we can't control the lazy.

These "Fat burner/ Mass gainer" qns are like FAQs in the forum lately.

Post ur routine here

sorry for the newbie qns.

just signed up at the gym few wk ago, doing weight training follow by cardio.

for weight training:

chest
biceps or triceps (different days)
abs

3 different sets of excercise each area.
each set is 3 x 12 reps

follow by 40mins of cadio.

your current isolation on chest, biceps, triceps, abs will not gain lean muscle, maybe just "tighten" your current muscles.

your 40min cardio will not lose fat but lose muscles instead.

read the stickies.

start with stronglifts or starting strength, do the major lifts to gain lean muscle.

stop your 40min cardio, do HIIT which can be as short as 10min and you will lose fat.

go on a weekly 5km run for endurance training if you want to.

but the staple of gaining lean muscle and losing fat is to leave heavy and have short high intensity training.

To be honest,unless ur already at below 10% bodyfat, and aim to reach 3%-4% bodyfat for a competition,and ur diet is already so low in carbs yet u still a little short of reaching that compettion level of ripness, skip the fat burner. Only those pple shud be looking at fat burners.

Just a quick question, is BSN Syntha-6 a mass gainer? Pretty high calories in it.
Good for post workout?

Got my BSN Syntha 6 Strawberry Milkshake. Tried the first scoop today. It tasted abit like HL Strawberry milk but not as thick though. The taste is accepted, doesnt taste "chemical". But it's just not as thick as what some reviews have said.

PReviously tried ON Strawberry flavour too, I would say there's not much of a diff between the two in terms of taste. But BSN taste just that slightly better.

But do take note that BSN syntha 6 is a mix protein, ON Whey will be a 100% whey. You can try BSN syntha 6 isolate for 100% whey. The should taste the same too.

For protein shake, every new flavour that you try for the first time, you will feel kind of weird, but after a few more scoops, it will be fine.

Tried ON Rocky Road before too, it makes me feel like ermmmmm at first too, but got used to the taste slowly.
