for a 300mbps plan u will need a router that offers high processing power. high end asus and tplink routers have processors that are rated at more than 800mhz which will deliver high throughput. As for the C7, i have been using for 2 weeks, only one hiccup. so far still going strong. if u have the cash and want the reliability go for the asus ac66u or the upcoming ac68u

Hi archer C7 users,

The new firmware is out now.
Archer C7 - Welcome to TP-LINK

Added the support of TP-LINK Tether iOS and Android app;
Added the support of MAC filtering to Guest Network;
Improved the WPA2-Enterprise function;
Fixed the incompatibility issue with some Ralink adapters;
Fixed a disconnection problem while downloading file and viewing online video with some cable modems.

I purchased a pair of C7s after the release of the latest firmware update. Been using it for a few days running 24x7, very stable (& it doesnt heat up like some other routers). IMO, its a decent 802.11ac router at an affordable price. Almost a no brainer considering its performance and price.

if u look at the prices online in USD c7 are of comparable price to asus ac66 and other brands. however in sg tp link is cheaper by a margin of almost half. so for the price/performance ratio id say get a c7, unless ur willing to import a router

SGD189, much cheaper than N66U for a AC1750 router :)

quite interested in getting this device however due to the nature that it is not 802.11ac certified (as reminded by friends that may have issues in future with AC devices), anyone knows if 802.11ac standard can be achieved through firmware flashing or it has to be hardware compliant?

It should be just a firmware update since its mentioned that the C7 supports 802.11ac. However, for peace of mind, perhaps u can email TPLink support to confirm.
