The Slant/Feather combo is really out of this world. Tried Super Iridiums in Slant and it's real rough. Might be a dud blade.

Think I have a pack somewhere. For the price, any gillettes is a better option. Even supermax. But I agree, worst case scenario - can make do with topaz...

Someone mentioned before - MIC blades - average to bad...

I bought it a long time ago never bothered to use always go back to my default feather astra. At last gave it a chance.

New Stainless Steel Razor in the market

attachment.php

Pretty aggressive - look at the blade:
006_b1d91ad6-719a-4742-b662-7c51265e416e_grande.JPG

The blurb:
Right now there are three of these razors available, and they have been fabricated by a single machinist in Canada out of 304 and 316 stainless steel.

This is not a mild razor, nor one geared toward the beginning wet shaver. This razor has been designed for the individual who wants a solid (110+ grams) and durable piece of craftsmanship that will provide an extremely efficient shave.

The blade gap is .039" (1.0 mm). The blade exposure is .055" (1.4 mm)

Cobra Vs Mongoose

You may have heard of the Cobra Single Edge Razor, a rather expensive razor that classicshaving sells.
Now someone is manufacturing similar SE: the Mongoose

Here's hoping they'll price it reasonably...
psst...it's 3 piece...

Where did he get the BIC blades??!!:eek: I missed those blades.:o

I think I have these too, I got them near mustafa. Don't really like them, maybe I go home and try.

What is a good shaving brush?

I'm using shaving cream at the moment and my bro's brush (I think it was some free brush) to shave.

Any recommendations?

Cheap one: boar at mustafa. last I went they still have a banded boar which IMO is sufficient, after you break it in and get rid of the smell

i also have a problem shaving my moustache stubble using DE. very pain leh... how ah?

It could be the lather being too thin and faded off by the time u start to shave. Meaning too much water in the brush...

There could be other reasons such as angle, pressure and number of passes. I remember a fellow bro telling me this:"little pressure, close to none"

Hi guys, have been away from this forum for a while....work and other commitments are really :s22::s22::s22:

Anyway, just to check, anyone here knows a good barber who shave well.....recently had a outbreak of acne, dare not shave for about a week....the remaining zits will clear in a more days.......think by the time my beard will be too long for DE, the other sad thing my regular malay barbershop has closed.

Please help. Thanks!!

The idea of trying to use a shavette stems from the fact that i find (because of my poor technique wielding a DE razor so close to the nose, that i either don't clean out the moustache hair easily or end up nicking myself as i twist and turn around that area.

In my mind, i thought i can shave it easier using a straight razor. And the use of shavette means that i can continue to use my DE blades whilst experimenting with something new for me.

Anyone use a shavette who can recommend a good shavette? I have read about Dovo, Parker and others. Just would like to hear a fellow shaver's take on shavette if you use one.... thanks.

Mustafa has a shavette going for $12.
I don't use one (though tempted) so can't comment much. Should be almost like straight except that you use a half blade...

In my case, using mild weber on the moustache area is not difficult. The first WTG does not clean much as it misses the area just below the nose.

The XTG and ATG reaches the area below the nose. Always BBS without too much hassle.
I puff upper lips area (as opposed to stretching by pulling down e.g. "gumming" the upper lips)

Fatip with Derby Extra (5 or 6?)
Mistura brush
Bodyshop cream
Alum Block
Nivea Coolkick
A cup of coffee (moka pot brewed)

This is the second night where I got irritation and burn free shave with fatip.
Techniques = near perfect.:s13:
Alum block and Nivea=silent...:s12:

Lessons:
  1. Never be stingy with shaving cream. I used a lot = dug a finger into the tub, placed on face and brush. Lots of lather
  2. No pressure but blade must be able to cut without pressure. Derby performs well in fatip.

Unless the slant comes home tomorrow, I will try Astra Platinum in the fatip, to see if it can mimic the derby. Don't want to buy any more blades...but honestly, derby was smooth (in an aggressive razor) and lasted my 5~6 shaves. Wish I have more derby so I can try in the slant too
