FAQ:

MediaCorp Digital TV

Setup screen shots:

What you need to get DVB - T2

www.hardwarezone.com.sg - View Single Post - Digital TV (DVB T2) in Singapore [consolidated]

1)
YOU CANNOT CONNECT YOUR DVB-T2 CARD TO YOUR SCV POINT AND EXPECT TO RECEIVE DVB-T2 SIGNALS!

SCV Point looks like this:
scv.jpg

MATV Point looks like this:
psw122.gif

A lot of the MATV points got disabled when SCV rolled out cabling in Singapore over 20 years ago. HDB is also no longer maintaining the MATV points so your best bet is still using a DIY antenna.

2) DVB-T2 signals are not available islandwide now and are only available at certain places. Refer to this map:
rollout_map.jpg

3) The other 2 ways you can receive DVB-T2 channels are:
- Subscribe to Singtel MiOTV
- Subscribe to Starhub Cable TV
(ie, PAY MONEY)

Equipment you will need:

  • a set top box (stb) or digital tv tuner

FAQS:
http://www.ifaq.gov.sg/MDA/apps/fcd...u9nfkcSfqdFJl3qrfNafC6yRWRkW+mBRm4/V8RQVJpw==

Or a TV with built in DVB.

Add:

And an Antenna
http://www17.mediacorp.sg/digitaltv/
http://www17.mediacorp.sg/digitaltv/faq.html
- either DIY

or

- Indoor

My suggestion here is not comprehensive to cover the situations for landed properties and condos. These are covered by the MediaCorp FAQ. Please decide how you want to deal with this.

I've mentioned this in the other thread that is closed now. Anyway here goes:

The SCV wall socket carries 2 types of signals as it is now.

Analog signal:
Relay MediaCorp's FTA channels, RTM TV1, SuperSports Arena, StarHub Preview & StarHub Test
- Viewable with TVs that has analog tuner
Digital DVB-C signal:
Digital channels for StarHub Cable TV
- (a) Unencrypted: MediaCorp's 7 FTA channels + HD5 (viewable with TVs that has a DVB-C tuner)
- (b) Encrypted: StarHub's Pay TV channels (viewable with StarHub's DVB-C set top box)

StarHub's only having HD5 broadcasting in HD for the 7 FTA channels thru their DVB-C signals.
An earlier post, there's mention of MDA noting that carriage of HD8, Suria HD & Vasantham HD for StarHub & SingTel on their DVB-C & IPTV system respectively, will be at a later date as it needs to be tested.

Your situation, with your TV plugged to the SCV wall socket as it is, you should be able to get #1 & #2(a).

If you would like to receive the DVB-T2 signals, you would need to connect to the HDB rooftop MATV (if ur block has one), or you would need to buy an antenna or DIY one yourself. Again, like @petetherock mention, location, location location.

Taken from the older thread.

Quote:

The Media Development Authority (MDA) announced today that Singapore's free-to-air (FTA) TV channels will go fully digital by the end of 2013.
They will be using the DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting - Second Generation Terrestrial) broadcasting standard.
By the end of 2013, all seven of MediaCorp's free-to-air channels will have migrated to digital TV.
Channels 5, 8, Suria and Vasantham will be available in High Definition (HD) by end 2013 while the remaining three channels - okto, Channel U and Channel News Asia will first be broadcast in Standard Definition from end 2013, before switching over to HD in 2016.
To ensure a smooth switchover, there will be a simulcast period, where both digital and analogue free-to-air television signals will be broadcast to ensure all households have time to get accustomed to receiving their free-to-air TV signals digitally.
By 2020, Singapore will complete the switchover from analogue to digital broadcast, in line with ASEAN's agreed time frame for making the switch.
The DVB-T2 will allow viewers to enjoy sharper and clearer images, cinematic surround-sound effects, and new content and services such as an electronic programme guide.
However, consumers who are non-pay TV subscribers will need a DVB-T2 digital receiver and an indoor or outdoor antenna to receive digital TV signals on their current TV sets.
MDA is working with manufacturers to develop the technical specifications suitable for Singapore's digital TV receivers.
These digital TV receivers are expected to be available in Singapore from early next year.
"Digital TV not only offers better image and sound quality, but also frees up scarce spectrum for other services, such as wireless broadband," said Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts at the opening ceremony of Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX).

For those who has the same case as me ( ground floor and block by tall bulding and trees) Pls take note.

My area is already covered by indoor digital signal but i am on ground floor and block by tall bulding and trees so when i place my antenna ($12) indoor , it can receive 4 HD channal but sd was crap and HD 5 was jam and lag. Have to place my antenna outside the window then HD 5 will not jam. so switch back to SCV.

How to see digital TV when there is no more analog signal ? can complain to MDA ?
