to junkki,

Sharp is an uncommon brand.
After sales service & support is not as good as compared to the 3 other major brands.
Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric & Panasonic.

Just got a quote from GC:

Mit Starmex Sys3 (3 x 9k + 24k)- $2979
Panasonic Envio Sys3 (3x 9k + 24k) - $2999

Comes with
23G copper piping
1/2" thinness insulation amarflex class 1
16mm drain pipe
4C40 wiring FCU to CU (Keystone)

Upgrade to 1/2" armaflex, need to top up $120.

Some questions:
  • Starmex vs Envio, which would be a model to get?
  • Is the 9k FCU sufficient for cooling the bedrooms (90sqm 4room BTO)? I saw some ppl opted for 12k FCU. Was told the upgrade cost from 9k - 12k is $50 or less.
  • Is the GC deal ok? (e.g is the armaflex upgrade overpriced?)

Or would it be cheaper/better to get those aircon specialist companies instead? Like Coolserve, CT Aircon, etc.

Anyone? :s11:

i see. Yes i agree, somehow i feel that those places outsource their installation teams. Abit hard to trace/rectify if there's issues.

AD is?

Hi Terumo,

Thank you, what about living room? my living room is 6 x 5 meter.

6x5m is consider quite sqaure area, you might consider for 18k btu or 24k for more wider coverage with faster cooling.

Otherwise choose for 12k btu is consider under power.

LG usually when brand new is quite cool and quiet operation, once turns to 2 yrs n above so got minor wear & tear then would be more headche like noisy or slow cold down issue or parts won't last longer than common Jap brands.

It depend on how we maintain the aircon.all brand aircon are the same is not maintain or service the problem will come after 2years. And it also depend on the installer too
My friend ME also have problem when it reach the 2nd year. To me it depend on ourselve on maintaining the aircon. Warranty is very important for aircon

Don't buy Korean brands Air Con. Any Japs brands will do. Or follow the most common here, Mitsubishi...PanaSonic...Daikin....

Why korea aircon no good? Our old LG aircon served us for more than 10years and it is still working fine. Only last 3year we change to japanese brand and the problem of dripping water and not cold happen. So which jap model will 100% no problem. My friend ME also having problem after 2years..Japan brand but made in China/Thailand/Malaysia.

I have maintenance contract for every quarter but also up lorry.

Compressor may not be the issue. Most give 5 years. The circuit board and control valves are 1 year. Replacing them is like changing compressor.

Mine is AD btw.
