overheat? are you overclocking?
just make sure that your stock cooler has thermal material(the grey grey material at the base of the heatsink, dont touch it, just make sure it is not bare) and install it securely such that all 4 corners of the cooler are securely locked

OR
if you are overclocking, make sure u find a good 3rd party cpu cooler and a good tube of thermal paste for maximum heat conduction away from your cpu and thus dissipation to the environment by the heatsinks on the cpu cooler :)

Unless your OS is 64bit if not then it will not read 4GB rams.

I am sorry to say if i am not wrong you have to change the processor + motherboard if your current Mobo does not support the new processor. For a BIG improve in speed of computer.

Since you mention 'agein' i believe it cost more time and $ to buy ram or reformat~!:s12:

Ok it seems like this thread hasn't been checked for some time but i'll try my luck. I think thi FAQ is certainly very very helpful but i just want to know, how would you decide what mobo to choose?

The CPU+Mobo bundle usually takes up a significant part of the budget and the price can vary quite a big deal depending on the mobo. What do we look out for and what should we know about a mobo to decide whether or not it is suitable for us?

It depends on what you need, just my opinion.....

AMD or Intel?
Do you need SLI and CrossFire technology(DUAL GPU Technology)?
How many RAM memory slot and at what Frequency it runs and support.
Back panel component. (PS2 connection, No. of USB ports, Integrated Graphics card, etc)
Some users choose mobo base on overclockability.
ATX, mATX, Mini ITX(the size of mobo whether it fits in casing)

That's all i have to say hope it Helps.

Thanks it does help. I'm planning to get an i5 750. Trying to lower the budget of the pc im planning to get.

Do plan to get one with CrossFire so that i can add on a GPU in the future. Won't really be overclocking and casing most likely ATX. Currently looking at Asus P7P55D-E EVO P55 but i'm not sure whether its overkill.

Hi guys im using a gigabyte motherboard below
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...board&ProductID=2507&ProductName=GA-M61SME-S2

i was looking forward to upgrading my graphics card and i wanted to use this PSU:
PowerLogic Magnum 250

is it possible for me to put this into my motherboard?

If possible help me find good graphics card upgrades that are possible for me so that i can play l4d2 smoothly

my reply to this is that you have top really got to find 450W or more PSU nowadays it is safer to ur systems also and HIGH END GPU really neeed POWER

Hey I just bought a Sapphire 7850 2Gb as an upgrade for gfx as it was found to be spoiled. At the same time, Cosair GS700 700W to cover for the required power. However, my computer failed to boot up, showing nothing on the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Fans seem to be running fine, cables seem to be plugged correctly too. Could there be a compatibility issue between my gfx and my mobo (M4N68T-M), besides being told that my gfx will be pulled down in performance by my mobo. I was told that the mobo has shorted or is simply spoiled somehow, can anyone confirm this too? I plan to send the mobo to the service centre for repair.
Oh and also, I can hear a two beep warning when I turn on the cpu - if this helps in anyway.

Need help in deciding which graphic card to upgrade

I am using a Acer Aspire M5810,
Processor i5
Ram 6GB
Graphic card NVIDIA Geforce GT230.
I am hoping to change my graphic card to a better one.
But not sure which to choose.
I am not sure of the power supply limitation and is it a PCI and AGI port.
Plus if there is such a service out there that help you assemble.

System Stuck in a continuous on and off loop

My newly built com doesnt work, the system is stuck in a constant on and off loop, occasionally there will be a beep but usually it will shut down before that. I'm not sure if the power supply's the problem, but the mobo, rams, graphics card all seem to be fine as their fans and lights are all powered up for that few seconds, i suspect it might be the power supply but this is a new system so i'm not very sure. I tried to start the cpu without the rams but it still goes into a on and off loop, any suggestions to help this? I don't really want to go back down to the shop to fix it as i dont have the time... i built it at PC Themes, i messaged them once all they told me was to take out the ram and remount them but i tried that already and it didnt work, and now they arent replying me... I haven't even been able to install my operating system thanks to this loop

not booting after cleaning heatsink

1. Before the whole incident , i experienced occasional bsod (windows 10) with the "memory management message"

2. Cleaned my cpu today. Took out the ram( in the way of the heatsink) , then took out my cooler master hyper 212x heatsink , blew the dust away with a small manual pump, then cleaned the cpu and the heatsink with isopropyl alcohol , before applying artic silver 5 thermal paste onto the cpu ( pea method) . Then reinstalled the heatsink and the ram. The cpu was not removed from the socket. The ram was inserted to the 2nd slot which is not in accordance to the dual channel configuration of the msi motherboard.
Boot up the computer and it showed the message "new CPU and or Memory was changed" and that i am given two options:
Press F1 to run SETUP
Press F2 to load default values and exit
I pressed F1 and just boot up with normal settings when brought to bios. After this, the computer boot up and shut itself down every 20 seconds. I am unable to enter the bios by repeatedly pressing del or f10.

Video shows what happens when the pc is turn on and the display :
