Can I ask .... With all the issue we get at AC87U ..... Is the a trade in offer for 87U to 88U like getting the 88U at 50% of the cost ?

Fair for those 87U group also ...
What's left is the power drain issue on Android which is to be fixed in the coming new QTN SDK.

Mind if I ask. Difference between 88 and 3100?

Both the ASUS RT-AC88U and ASUS RT-AC3100 have the same specs (Broadcom BCM 47094 1.4GHz dual core CPU, 128MB Flash, 512MB RAM) and the same ASUSWRT with includes WTFast.

The differences between the ASUS RT-AC88U and the ASUS RT-AC3100 are as follows ~

1). ASUS RT-AC88U sport partial red, black antennas whereas ASUS RT-AC3100 will have the full black antennas.

2). ASUS RT-AC88U has 8x GbE ports whereas ASUS RT-AC3100 has only 4x GbE ports.

3). Can't reveal more about the ASUS RT-AC3100 besides what has been posted on the Internet.

Asus website down at the Disclaimers says:

MU-MIMO firmware feature will be available by the end of 2015

To release that feature it means quantenna fixed the battery draining issue that most users report at 87u.Does 88u uses different hardware or its the same with bigger amplifiers?

Different chip from different vendor. 88 uses Broadcom, not Quantenna. Not sure whether the battery draining issue is related to MU-MIMO on the 87. The 88 supposedly has additional low noise amps. Will have to see how much of a difference these make in real world situations.

Do we still need to pay the subscription for WTFast?

From the ASUS RT-AC88U official web footnotes

RT-AC88U owners get the basic WTFastTM solution free, without ads. The free version is limited to accelerating one device at a time, and includes WTFastTM technical support. Users can pay to upgrade to the premium version for simultaneous acceleration of multiple devices.

does the asus link agg works for dual 1Gbps link or only 2gbps link

Dual 1Gbps aggregation if your NAS supports it.

ASUSTor/Synology/QNAP NAS are fully supported.

Do not be confused with those 2Gbps Fiber Internet Plan (especially VQ 2Gbps to one PC) that requires 2x WAN/LAN configurable but ASUS might have those 2WAN 1Gbps router coming  :D

Cannot wait for this to be launched in SG. Any tentative dates?

Going to replace the troublesome 87u with this. Hopefully solves all the problems with my iDevices. As a plus point, Merlin already has a firmware for it!
