[INFO] 2.0, 2.1, 4.1, 5.1 and higher multimedia speakers thread

Bros,

Let's compile a 2.0, 2.1, 4.1, 5.1 or higher speaker configuration list.
Just recommend the speakers that worked for you.

Since sound is very very subjective, the purpose of this thread is not for argument so please restrain your thoughts but list out the "decent" speakers so that other forumers can go and audition it themselves.

STANDALONE DECODERS
Creative DDTS-100 Decoder Pic $279

Supports DD-EX/DD-PL2/DTS/DTS:NEO6/DTS-ES decoding. 3 optical inputs, 1 coaxial input, 3 RCA analog inputs. Can upmix to 7.1 speakers.

SPEAKER CABLES
Upgrading your multimedia speaker cables will boost your speaker performance in most instances. Not all speakers can be upgraded however. Those hardwired ones are out of luck. You will also need to find out the cable gauge that your speaker can accept.

Common speaker cable upgrades:
Monster Standard THX-certified speaker cables (16 gauge)Link 1 roll of 30m (100ft) for $99

Other speaker cables brands used by other HWZoners include Belden, Klotz, Monster Cable, QED and Supra. Different cables have different prices and will sound different on the same system. It is best that you can audition the cables from the shops that sell those cables. Most of these shops will also sell the speakers connectors and the interconnects to the subwoofer. Again, depending on your budget, you can forgo interconnects but you risk corroding your cable if you connect barewire. These shops will also provide soldering services too.

Popular places to get these cables include: Sim Lim Square, Sim Lim Tower and The Adelphi (in between City Hall building and Funan Centre).

DIGITAL CABLES
When using digital connections, there are two types of interfaces: Coaxial (SPDIF - Sony/Philips Digital InterFace or RCA) or Toslink (TOShiba LINK or Optical). These cables transfer the digital or signals to the receiver or decoder for DAC conversion.

Example of connecting to Analog speakers:
PC soundcard SPDIF out > Digital cable > Receiver or decoder > Analog speakers

Example of connecting to Digital speakers:
PC soundcard SPDIF out > Digital cable > Digital speaker system with built-in decoder

Some multimedia speaker systems may require a convertor in order to support digital connections. Check with the respective speaker manufacturer for more details.

There are convertors available for Toslink to Coaxial and vice versa. There are also Toslink/Coaxial Extenders too.

Coaxial Connector

Toslink Connector

Some cable upgrades:
Daiyo toslink cable Pic $25-$30 (Available at most electronic stores like Best Denki, Carrefour, Courts, Harvey Norman etc.)

Monster Standard THX-certified toslink cable Pic $60

currently using this:

4.1 SPEAKERS
Altec Lansing ADA885 (*,#)

Pairing it up with Audigy 2 ZS, sufficient for my gaming, audio and DVD needs.

'Nuff said.

Sound resonable.

Can buy at sls's city electronics.Previous price was 799 and went down to 599.And now it is still selling at $299.
Take note that u need few months to burn-in those speakers until u can hear aego2's subwoofer hitting low notes of musical instrument.Your taste eventually change from this kind of bass quality.Any normal multimedia speakers have been giving overblown bass where u will never hear low notes.
