Not quite excited. Heard that the design is not much different and I don't like rumors on so many variants with so many screen sizes and 2 processors...They better fix the RAM management and battery life.

Seriously I don't give dam how Samsung going to release new phone cause now they
want to get back customers interest by restore back Micro SD support, only missing
part is the removable battery which I find it they Samsung still haven't wake up .

Still want to behave like a arrogant company always think I design the phone sure got
alot customers wants to buy their products. In the past they make announcement claim
they are most innovative company, until Samsung release that S6 all are copy from fruits
phone. So now they start to see alot customers start to jump ship, have Samsung learn
from the past mistakes. I doubts when are they going to wake up..!! Must give one big
slap at Samsung.

To be fair to Samsung, I think by removing microsdcard slot and removable battery, they gave us far stable and bloatless touchwiz and a superb camera in return.

Which I think makes the phone more useable for day to day.

Last time when they give you everything, people complained their phones are too plasticky. Now they took away sdcard and removable battery, but you get nicer phone body with glass and metal. You can't have everything.

In business world, you have to be precise and focus on a particular segment and reap the most profits out from it. You can't be firing machine gun everywhere and hope can hit one target. That's where apple is so successful despite not much innovation since Jobs' departure. To me iphones development has been stagnant since birth. I have not seen any improvement since i ditched my ip4 years ago. At least Samsung had some really useful functions along the way that made our life easier.

Having Google photo apps and drive that provides cloud synching and super fast charging somewhat has negate the missing "Samsung features" for me and I don't missed them at all. In fact I find s6 and note5 far more enjoyable to use compared to their predecessors.

I am not a Samsung fan nor I work for them. I have been a nexus and HTC fan. Tried most of Samsung phones since s2 and have been giving them chances but from s2-s5 and note1 to note4, I have been always letdown by the buggy touchwiz.

I have tried s6 edge and note5 earlier when they just launched and cursed them and sold them away after just 1 week of usage and also due to other tempting phones that came out after them.

However I made a return to s6 edge and note5 since last week and has been very happy with their performances and are keeping both till s7 and note6 comes out. In overall package, they are unbeatable and has no major flaws. I guess the OTA updates has made them better

Many phones of last year all suffered from lousy battery life due to sd810/808, super high resolution screens and lollipop. It was a year of going backwards in terms of technology as these upgrades were unnecessary as it does not bring new features to the phones nor made them any better or smarter. Phones of 2014 performed much better with 1080p screens, sd800/801 and KitKat.

To bluntly put, the price you paid for Samsung phones give you more features and bang for the buck. Even with higher clocked CPu, higher resolution screen and lollipop where many others suffered from lousy battery life to extent of not even passed as a daily driver IMO, Samsung phones still chuggles along faithfully day to day and I am impressed.

Other manufacturers may entice you with lower price or pure android feel but to me nowadays, "pure" also means feature-less.

What's the point of having a big phone but it offers nothing better or more but just a bigger version of it? If note5 can give you better battery life, better camera, nicer screens and also s pen function, I don't think any phone at same price or even cheaper can match it. Even for s6, the function it offers far outshine any other competition that offers nothing but just a newer cpu, higher resolution screen and smaller battery due to slimmer phone body.

Again, I am not a fan or employee, just someone who change phones almost every week/month and has used almost all flagships for the past 4 years.

Cheers :)

I am really keen to see what batt improvements it can bring for a 5.1" screen with 3000mah battery and typical Samsung good batt management.

Not forgetting a 1/2" sensor size with 12mp resolution and f1.7 lens....should be a beast camera to beat this year.

So it will have:
- microsdcard slot - check
- big battery - check
- water and dust proof - check
- 4gb ram - check
- potentially a beast of camera - check

What's not to like? Looks like the king is returning....

I have to agree with newourveture.

I may or may not be that excited for the new S series line up. Cause to me, i'm looking for the best SoC to be equipped into it. If it is going to be using the SD820, i'm gonna ditch it as a whole.

So hope if it is using Exynos line up, and i would gladly buy the new S series.

Samsung could not make everyone happy. Some would still love a removable battery and a mSD slot. But i would say it all boils down to individuals.

I myself prefer without the mSD slot and a non removable battery and trade it with aesthetic looks. Which in turns, Samsung gave a better build quality by giving it a premium feel of glass back and front, and also a much more clean look than its older devices when everyone is complaining with its looks of cheap plastic.

On a side note, there is close to only 1 brand that is left with both mSD and removable battery. And that is LG.

They chose to stay at that route, and for whatsoever reason, i find that they have to find other type of materials to cover the plastic surface of the back cover to make it "feel premium", such as a leather back that was found on G4 models.

On the other hand of performance. Samsung nails it well this time round to opt for their own Exynos 7420. Which uses a 14nm FinFet fabrication process. Although it is spotted using the same Cortex A57 and A53 cores with the SD810. Thanks to 14nm, the phone runs noticeably cooler and more power efficient than the lackluster SD810 performance.

I have with me 2 phones and both are my daily driver phones. The Nexus 6P and the S6 Edge. And to me, the Nexus 6P Performance is no where near the S6E when it comes to gaming.

On paper, the S6E is equipped with a Mali T760 and the 6P is equipped with an Adreno 430, the Adreno 430 is suppose to be a much more powerful GPU than the T760. But the SD810 as a whole has overheating issues, and it has to throttle down in order to maintain the temperature. And most of the time, when i'm gaming, it is bad that i myself can see the 6P is struggling to maintain playable frame rates. At time it is totally not smooth. And tends to be sluggish most of the time.

With that said, the S6E do not have any form of throttling issues when gaming. Although yes, it still throttles when playing games for a long period of time, or when charging an playing at the same time. But nevertheless the performance are much more consistent than the Nexus 6P.

The fact that i still love 6P, is the stock android. The way it is integrated it with Marshmallow OS, and the way it is integrated with Google, it became my powerhouse for emails, web surfing, large battery life, and overall it is a good device for my spare personal line, while the S6E is my work line.

Back to SoC, if the new S series is going to be equipped with SD820. Despite it is done by Samsung, i will still wait and see how it goes. But the moment it fails to meet my gaming requirements, i will look elsewhere.

Among all SoC, the best gaming experience still comes from one tablet, and that would currently be in the Google Pixel C, which is using a Nvidia Tegra X1 which is found to have insane performance and slightly above the iPad Air 2 (Other than their iPad Pro which to me is overpriced, too big and totally not worth the performance value). If gaming tablet is serious, i would jump ship to gaming tablet, and i will just buy any phone out there that i like to have available in market.

I would probably just adopt the wait and see approach. See how all the new 2016 SoC rank up. Such as the Nvidia X1, SD820, Kirin 950, Apple A chips etc.

4 different models of S7, and 2 different processors. So, 8 different versions of the S7....:s13:

I don't know what's the point of releasing so many variants. They should just concentrate on the standard size versions(S7 and S7 edge).
For all we know, Samsung might even release another variant towards the end of the year with even better specs. Look at their past record. Perhaps, it might be better for them to save the plus versions towards the end of the year, releasing it alongside the Note 6.

I don't like samsung design. If S7 design i like then i will consider as i must like the design before i look at the features. no matter how good the features, I won't buy if the design i don't like. Just my personal preference of design, look and feel.

Well...Samsung likes to flood the market with a lot of variants.

Different people will like different things.

So, Samsung is trying to use a huge net to capture as much market share as possible.

It all boils down to the type of customers Samsung wants to target. By copying the product strategy of Apple, and with its focus on building on Tizen, it is clearly abandoning its original target market segment - people who care more about features and an open environment than aesthetics and bling. Yet if I'm going to choose between Samsung and Apple given that they are both offering similar high-end but closed products, Apple will win hands down. This is the real reason why Samsung is suffering. They are under attack by the low-cost Chinese companies like Xiaomi and Huawei who have swallowed a significant part of their cheap phone market, and are now having trouble trying to move up the food chain to the space occupied by Apple.
