IPPT pull up vs push up

In terms of affecting body proportions...should
see less concave chest guys in sg due to emphasis on push ups. Pull ups dont give the V shape that easily unless quite hard core.

pull-ups is the best exercise that give u the V taper. BW pull-ups alone can get you that.

I was referring to guy next door typical army guy exercising mainly for ippt those type.. the V doesnt come up as fast as chest for pushups in my experience. Dedicated yeah the V comes...half past six effort push up chest shows liao.... in my experience at least.

Pull ups need more mind muscle control amd form to hit the lats effectively as many use momentum etc to just get the chin above bar. I do regular 8x4 sets pulls ups in strict form and still mastering the form. Push up...easy peasy to get proper form.

Sadly, coaches/ trainees teach/ train pull up using mainly hand muscles.
Sadly, they KNOW need to use LatsMuscle, but do not know HOW to enage it,
because #TheSchoolNeverTeach #TheGrandMasterNeverTeach.
Sadly, same goes to pushup, situp & running.

Erm push up is training pecs and pull up is training lats btw

push up is for kids, pull up is for man.

I enlisted in 2014, I did both pull-up and push-up for IPPT. I personally feel It's easier to pass and get silver with the new push-up scheme. But It's easier to get gold with the Pull-up scheme.

Agreed. I think doing push ups is easier to pass but harder to get Gold. Recently, I did my Ippt in Maju camp and they are really strict with the one fist standard. I had at least 6 or 7 no counts. Fortunately, I managed to pass. haha

Some say pull up is harder. The reasons are obvious.

Some say push up is harder. Few reasons,
a) shoulder joint movement restriction/ pain/ injuries.
Shoulder joint consists of humerus & scapula. There is no bone holding them together. Soft tissue & muscle are the integrity of the joint. shoulder pain are common because people often place too much load or force on this unstable joint. Physical therapists have cited shoulder impingement as one of the five most common injuries.

Description
The rotator cuff is a common source of pain in the shoulder. Pain can be the result of:
•Tendinitis. The rotator cuff tendons can be irritated or damaged.
•Bursitis. The bursa can become inflamed and swell with more fluid causing pain.
•Impingement. When you raise your arm to shoulder height, the space between the acromion and rotator cuff narrows. The acromion can rub against (or "impinge" on) the tendon and the bursa, causing irritation and pain.

b) breathing techniques - for fast reps,

Coaches/ trainers say "use upper body muscle" but do not know how to enage it.
