Cheap phone for use in Europe?

Hi,

I was wondering if you guys could help me.

I'm travelling to Germany, France and Switzerland. I have an existing One Plus 3T A3010

From what I understand, this phone doesn't have the required LTE bands that Europe uses.

If I were to use M1 Passport, the phone would only have GSM, correct? I assume that mapping software would still work, just slower.

And I'm assuming that when people complain that their Europe SIMs don't work, it's more because the phone itself that they traveled with doesn't support the required band. Am I right?

M1 Passport will cost $50 + setup fees, which it's not going to give me all the networks I can use will be more frustrating.

Anyway, I was wondering if there's a cheap phone that can work in those countries as well as in Singapore that you can recommend, or something to replace the OnePlus that I have that can do that? The phones need to support tethering and dual sim slots would be preferable.

Also, which maybe beyond the scope of this forum, but is there such a thing a mifi that works everywhere?

Thank you for your thoughts.
