Somehow, I find AntiVir not really light on CPU resources if your CPU is lower than P4 2.4GHz and RAM lower than 512MB.

Anything faster, should have not much impact.

Pokémon, strange cause the Free ver is very light on my P3/1GHz/384MB & Athlon4/1GHz/256MB. Are u refering to Premium ver? Cuz that one slightlyyy more discernable weight.

AntiVir Premium use 100++MB of memory..
i switched back to NOD32. more userfriendly also.

Last time tried out Eset AntiVirus v3 it launches 2 processes, egui & ekrn which takes up a total of ~24MB of RAM; while now using Avira AntiVir FREE, launches 3 processes, avgnt, avguard, sched, but total these 3 take up a max of 9MB.

McAfee VirusScan Ent 8.5 launches 7 processes, total take up ard 70MB.

All verified using Task Manager.

Avast is not very cpu-friendly when auto updating.
As my cpu lags like don't know what to describe.
Even on 2.8GHz and 512MB. Better don't use on Eee.

why don't you try Rudra then? Actually there is a thread above for the software? They claim they have low CPU usage.

It's the free version I was referring to.

So far, I've installed for quite a number of PCs/Notebooks using RAM of 256MB or lower, and the most recent one was a P4 2.0GHz. There's always a very significant slowdown on the startup time after installing AntiVir, and the initial launching of programs will take slightly longer too.
