Linux production servers need anti virus?

As above. Is it needed?

Do sysadmins install any anti virus software on their Linux servers?

Answer is yes. No system is beyond hackers. The only ones are those unplugged from the power socket.

But there are times you just install it for security policies and ease of mind "hoping" someone or something that is designed to capture such intrusion are working 24x7 for you. Still the first layer of protection comes from your knowledge on how to harden a system properly, the choice of software you installed into your system and how you design custom software that works on a system. Antivirus are just to ease your mind if it actually works, there are ways at which a hacker can intrude your system without setting off any alarms
