hi guys.

2.5k isnt within my budget

is the baseline 13" C2D enough for stuff like autocad, photoshop, VMware/light gaming with boot camp etc?

planning on upgrading the HDD to a higher RPM myself.

if you can just upgrade to SSD

harddisk makes all the difference. don't care whether you are i7 processor, 8gb ram or not. if your harddisk is 5400rpm, your computer will crawl

7200 also, once your harddisk gets more and more programs.

SSD will blaze away and ensure that there is no bottleneck in performance
wish to try SSD too! but it's way too expensive for my budget..and not enough space! looks like have to just wait for the technology to mature..

Just save a bit more and go with the i5, no point buying a new notebook just to stick with C2D.

Try Google/Wikipedia.

Does imac applecare covers the hard disk?
Yes it does.

I compared FW800/eSATA speeds the last time, they were ABOUT the same when I ran the benchmarks with a single drive. Unless you're using RAID or some other form of setup which has high I/O, I would say just stick with FW800 (since you may face some incompatibility issues with eSATA ExpressCards) to be safe.

Prices for Apple products are pretty much controlled. If you want it any cheaper then eBay is the place, although there are risks.

thanks n0d3, i've read the ebay applecare issue.
Not looking for the cheapest but the proper box with recipt, seems like edu applecare is $318, which is reasonable to me.
I thought i saw like during PC shows they will be selling like around $290+. so just need some confirmation for PC/it show prices.
