I dunno why but my MBA seems to not have good battery life. From 6.45pm till now I am using it to charge my iPhone 11 Pro max, use WhatsApp web and surf the net using safari. Now battery life dropped to 81% from 100%.

Haha, I was using licensed MS Office 2011 for Mac previously. Now I am planning to use LibreOffice and a bit of Google product since Office 2011 for Mac has reached EOL back in Oct 2017.
If not dependent on ms office, can consider Linux. Can load on any older pc or mac.

No dedependance for MS Office at all at home.

I am OS neutral and I like cross platform open source projects. I like Linux and use Linux as well since Ubuntu 5.04 in 2005 (not counting earlier trial of Linux like Slackware or Redhat). But I like Apple HW products (iPhone, iPad, Mac Mini) because of the quality and the unique OS.

macOS is unique and sophisticated. Mac Mini is the cheapest way to have a supported machine to run macOS. I have Windows laptop as well and I run Linux on Raspberry Pi boards and Orange Pi boards and on the cloud.

With the addition of Mac Mini, I can carry out tests for Windows, Linux and macOS (and other OS like BSDs previously using Virtual Box under my previous Mac Mini) with the open source projects I am involved in. Without the Mac Mini for the past 1.5+ years, I was kind of handicapped in this aspect.

BTW, personally I feel ARM based Linux, macOS and Windows will be more fun than x86 based. I have switched my interests in Linux to mainly ARM based Linux since 2018. I am glad there is macOS on M1 ARM based silicon now in late 2020.

Hopefully Windows on ARM will get mature soon as well in late 2022.

Better battery life comes from new chip architecture and optimization to system and apps

It's not going to magically generate more power on it's own to charge your iPhone 11 Pro Max which has a 3,969mAh battery

Very sorry I didnít think of the power the iPhone consume when charging.

just wondering anyone of you got the AppleCare + for the MBA or pro?

Base MBA $1300. AppleCare + $348.. Like not so worth in terms of pricing. almost 26% of the price of the MBA..
