Use Ipad Pro USB C cable for MacBook USB C charger cable

Hi,

Anyone able to advise if the iPad Pro USB C cable can be use as charging cable to charge a MacBook

iPad Pro USB C cable ($29)
USB-C Charge Cable (2m)
https://store.apple.com/sg/xc/product/MLL82ZA/A

MacBook USB C cable ($59)

The cost difference between the 2 is quite big. So like to know if there are any difference between to 2 to warrant the cost difference

Hey there,

You're most likely referring to the 59$ thunderbolt 3 cable.
The cable you've linked in your post, https://www.apple.com/sg/shop/produc...harge-cable-2m will work.

Macbook cable should support thunderbolt and up to 100w hence the price difference

Like to believe the iPad cable r rated up to 60W

Both would still charge your MacBook fine. Use a power meter

The one included in the MacBook Pro is just a charge cable at $29. The $59 one is the thunderbolt 3 cable.
