I've used AVIS on both my trips to Perth. No issues at all. After hours is easy as well.

You guys think 5 adults 1 baby seat with 5 big luggage.. can squeeze into one Kia carnival?
i had the iMax, 5 adults + 2 baby seats....5 big luggage... more than enough space to put everything at the boot

Pre booked and paid for 2 cars.

The counter in perth airport felt that i booked wrongly as the booking was booked under 1 name for 2 cars.

Anyway, next unplesant event would be theres only 1 mid sized suv avail. And thus 1 car was downsized to a small sized suv.

Lastly as 2 bookings were done under same name. We were forced to buy additional driver for the 6/7 days of ride.

Avis used to be okay for my past 2 visits but this time they done badly
avis sent me a survey after my trip.
Gave my feedback and thereafter they waived up the extra driver and 2 days off for 1 car.

Kudos to avis for their correction.

our licence is in english, no need IDP.

as for excess, itís your personal preference as to how much you want to be exposed to. you can look at your own travel insurance to see if you can add on car excess. eg my own yearly plan already includes up to 2k excess. i know AXA single trip you can add on as well.

the car i rented comes with default excess abt 2.7k. i chose not to buy any extra reduction. in this case my exposure is max $700.

look around at the different levels of excess for each car rental companies. usually their base rate doesnít differ much. but the extra details will matter if touch wood you get into accident.

for tasmania i got full coverage though, including road side assist 🙃 and animal damage. really depends on where you intend to bring the car to.
