No doubt Wang Chong yang is very strong, becos he is the most powerful in the Legend of Condor Heroes Series. But The Sweeper Monk is still the god mode strongest of them all.

Sweeper monk can brush aside Qiao Feng Dragon Subduing Skill(xiang long shi ba zhang) easily. And can "kill" someone and bring back to life. While Wang chong yang still have to fight the 4 greats including Hong Qi (xiang long shi ba zhang). I dun think he can brush aside like the sweeper monk with one stance. :s8:

I think most fans would agree that the characters in Tian Long are the most powerful. Jingyong himself ever wrote something about the martial arts in Tian Long being the purest, I think. I.E. Most powerful.

And Sweeper Monk thrashes EVERYONE in that. So he's undeniably the strongest.

the sweeper monk is less of a character and more of a 'deus ex machina' to move the plotpoint though....

In fact, as much as i like Tian long ba bu, i think Jinyong went overboard with the martial art level of the characters....almost all of them are like 'dragon ball' characters....

i like Xiao Au Jiang Hu level of martial arts.....there's still super exaggeration (dong fang bu bai as the example) but at least nobody is super saiyan in that book and most of them actually practice and train before they become powerful. Both Duan Yu and Xu Zhu went from weaklings to super saiyan 4/one punch man in a single night is the most exaggeration ever in all of jinyong-dom.

Haha did a google search and this is the result:

Here is the guideline to follow. If character B is X level below A......

Level Guidelines
1) 1 Lv Below - B is only perceived to be very slightly stronger.
2) 3 Lv Below - B would probably be beaten after a extremely long and close fight. (>1000+ exchange)
3) 5 Lv Below - B would most definitely lose, but can give a very good challenge.
4) 10 Lv Below - B would lose but should be able to put up a fight.
5) 20 LV Below - B would be thrashed within a few blows or possible 1 Hit KO.

Fighting Capability

Note: This chart takes into consideration the "fighting capability", in other words "the ability to battle another opponent" only. The fighting capability is consideration of a character attack, defense, technique, internal, qinggong, speed/lightness, agility, as well as age and experience of the character that allows him to defeat or prevail against another opponent. It does not consider solely 1 trait.

Character Traits/Personalities Does Not Affect Fighting Capability

Unless stated, character traits are not taken into consideration in this chart (e.g Benevolence, Not wanting to hurt people, Low confidence), and thus DOES NOT affect their levels. The level of the character is when he is under the state where he "has to defeat/kill his opponent" (E.g. Duan Yu defending WYY with his life).

Comparing Levels & Special Conditions

There are certain special conditions that will be mention when they add on or modifies a character levels.

Environmental factors (dark cave more advantageous for blind), distraction, underestimation of opponent, inability to focus, under poison, low confidence will all affect a character fighting capability. Therefore, A slightly weaker character (LV 1 - LV5) would not always lose.

Of course, if the difference is overwhelming (>10 LV), the character will still lose.

General FAQ

- Character levels listed are at their MOST POWERFUL POINT IN THE NOVEL (Usually the End), unless otherwise stated. Weapons are not counted except when stated. The exception is when the character fights primarily with weapon (e.g those from XAJH)

- This Chart is targeted at 1 VS 1. Its accuracy is greatly diminish for handicap matches (1v2, 1v3) as too many factors would come into play. (Swordplay, Skills Compatibility, Formation, etc) It can still be used as a guide though - A character should be able to 1v2 persons 15LV lower.

- Level units are not "equal" throughout - The difference from LV70 to LV75 is GREATER than the difference from LV30 to LV35. In RPG terms, it simply means you need more experience to progress to the next at higher levels. This is to stimulate the "plateau effect" of martial arts, and to prevent the upper tier characters from getting into ridiculous Levels.

- The list started out from the ROCH Greats Level (which defaults to 75). The comparisons started and expanded gradually from there. The main tiers of skill levels are: Legendary -> Great -> Elite -> Expert -> Seasoned -> Novice

Excluding tlbb, wuji is the strongest la.

We should also exclude all creators of skills. Those are just billshlt created by jin Yong to hype a skill up.

Wuji is the strongest. He learnt all the top tier skill like qian kin, 9 yang to top level. He can heal himself and can rid of most poisons. He's also the youngest to achieve great achievement.

Guojing is dumb and slow in learning.

Yang guo left one arm...cannot execute most skills.

Dong fang bu bai does not have enough internals to take on wuji in the long run.

Xiao Feng or Guo Jing can easily beat those at lv 85. They are the main characters and won't lose to some mountain tortoises.

So Duan Yu will most definitely beat Yang Guo, sorrow or not , Xiao Feng and Guo Jing individually?

5 Lv Below - B would most definitely lose, but can give a very good challenge.
10 Lv Below - B would lose but should be able to put up a fight.
