Huh? It sounds like they simply moved the system online so you can do transfer at home instead of going down to LTA or finding an agent. I doubt LTA wants to manage the flow of money.

Concentrate on tampering of mileage, such dirty scam is a known issue but nothing done.

actually it's not a difficult thing to legislate. can make it a law for workshop/owner to upload mileage data on a portal. something like tat. issue fines to owner if never do

Easier for us(people) to say/suggest BUT always difficult or seem near impossible for them(government) to do something or alittle thing about it.

Not forgetting an expert ever mentioned:
There is no totally honest business out there. You seem quite naive. Every profession got its darker side.
Same goes for our leaders? That why such thoughts are breeded?
Running the nation/country like a business model which making money is the key issue to do?

I think the portal only serve to do vehicle transfer online instead of going down to LTA. It will probably check if the vehicle is still mortgage to the bank before transferring to you. It will not prevent dealer making off with your deposit. It will save you a trip to LTA for making a transfer.

If dealer didn't settle his company loan for the vehicle they are selling you, there are also no ways for him to transfer to you. So how this online help?

STA does record down the vehicle millage when it goes for inspection.

The millage record appears on the computer screen if you watch them do the tests.

But for cars 10 years and below - only 5 inspections (every 2 years)...

A lot of time for unscruplous owners/car dealers to play with the millage. As long as they don't wind it back to below the AD servicing recorded millage or the inspection millage - who can say they haven't?
