Had a lithium battery jump start set before. But throw away after hearing many incidents about such battery. Now only keep jump start cable.

Wanted to, but recent numerous reports of battery catching fire, although mainly PMDs, thought it is not very safe having one in car, especially since my car sits in open air car park whether at work or at home.

Actually those battery packs are all made of Lithium Ion. Same battery as you are using your handphone.

So unless you are talking about unregulated voltage modification onto your battery pack or the battery manufacturer doesn't conform to certain standard quality (yah, people will always say "How do you know? You can never know." But ask yourself if that same line of questioning applies to every single battery powered appliances you own). Getting a battery pack to jumpstart your car from a reputable brand shouldn't be an issue.

Although is similar type of battery. But useage is quite different. Especially car is likely to go under hot sun in most day. Heat and temperature is always a big element. Plus the higher the capacity, the chance of fire out of control is higher.
