You'll get better advice by stating your car make and model. Different workshops are popular with (and better at) different car makes and models.

Use Owner's oil and oil filter. Buy in GIANT's supermarket. Cheap!
For oil filter you can buy in those industrial park car accessories shop.
Normally around S$5-6 each.
You only need to pay S$30-S$40 labour fee, in a normal Spore workshop.
If you're quoted for more, you can go other workshop.

I drive a 2006 Latio.

For servicing, you can try Autoaid.

I did my 70K and 80K servicing there, will be going there this Saturday to do my 90K servicing.

Do you guys ever stay around with the mechanic to work on the servicing?
For me, i will always stick around.
I think is pretty important. Because you get to know your car even more each time round.

I'll stick around if possible, can learn more about my car and make friends with mechanics. Most times the mechanics will share some tips and also take more care when servicing your car once they warm up to you.
