Grab passenger allegedly breaks car wiper over baby seat spat

Grab passenger allegedly breaks car wiper over baby seat spat

A GrabCar passenger is said to have verbally abused a driver and broken his windscreen wiper over the latter’s refusal to pick up the passenger, his wife and infant.

According to citizen journalism site Stomp, the driver, who only identified himself as Paul, said he could not ferry the family as his vehicle did not have a baby car seat. Paul claimed that the passenger then became verbally abusive, and attempted to stop him from leaving.

“He then tried to open my door and attack me but failed to do so. He then proceeded to attack my vehicle, scratched it and broke the windscreen wiper arm. He even threatened me and yelled that he would f**king kill me,” said Paul, who claimed that he called the police about the incident.

The incident allegedly happened on Tuesday afternoon (27 December) at The Concourse, a mixed-use development along Beach Road. Yahoo Singapore has contacted the police to enquire about the incident.

In response to queries from Yahoo Singapore, a Grab spokesman said that the company is in the process of speaking with the passenger and driver.

Land Transport Authority rules require all children under the height of 1.35m travelling in private vehicles, including private-hire cars, to use child safety restraints. Taxis are exempt from this requirement.

“Grab recommends all passengers to bring their own child safety restraints but also understand that there are times when they do not have a child safety restraint on hand. At such times, passengers can use our GrabTaxi service,” added the spokesman.

aiyo why can't just move on and call taxi? taxi bring them to where they wana go and enjoy rest of the day mah...

instead go damage ppl's car abuse this n that spoiled his own family day cannot enjoy, lagi worse is maybe kena risk of criminal charge for vandalism act. but usually such case they'll settle privately.
