The major servicing (20/40/60) prices at Borneo Motors quite close to outside workshops like autosaver. I doing major servicing with BM, and minor at autosaver.

For altis, 40k servicing at BM costs $368, while AS charges $356.

Used to have the same thought as you, don't mind paying $500+ at borneo vs $100+ outside since they are "authorized". Knowledge and service will be better as they have "official training" all and won't chope u.

My car had an issue where if you turn left/right there will be like a knocking/tapping noise, BM and me keep going back and fourth change brake pad, change the brake calliper this and that still cannot solve. End up mechanic claim that he heard no noise when he went for the test drive eventually got it fixed after a friend shared with me what's the problem. This debunked the myth that they are smarter and better for me.

Only benefit I can see servicing at agent is that you're able to prove your mileage when you selling your car, other than that based on personal experience it's really very expensive compared to outside.

Of course the type of service they do is different also, BM usually change this and that (air filiter, oil filter, refresh your aircon this and that) while the $100+ servicing outside is simply for an oil change and coolant top up

If the car is still under warranty, it is better to service with AD unless one is willing to take a risk and make use of the saving to replace faulty parts in future.

Generally, servicing at outside workshops is less than half the price compared to ADs and Japanese cars are very reliable.

Based on personal experience, do agree with both points.

I service outside and recently made claims to Mazda for faulty parts - engine mount, suspension.

So there's nothing really based on facts that you can't lay claims for servicing outside. They did request for my servicing invoices. I made a call to the workshop and they sent the PDF over.

It's a myth ADs knows best and can fix fastest and gives you less crap.

The basic service anyone also can do, just randomly go into 1, ask price n let them do, if not happy with their works, try another shop next time.
